The Darkness

Just curious to know what you ppl think about the band The Darkness...? biggrin

The band has a weird effect on me.. On the other hand they make me laugh, lol very cheerfull woot! and just complitely happy..... And on the other..... The band makes me very sad... They remind me of Queen and especially Freddie.... It makes me cry because I miss Freddie so damn much!! sad
Allow me to introduce: Ms. Onder and Mrs. Donk! (o)(o)
They now belong to BigBearHermy. heart

I think that type of music went out with the hair metal bands, don't know why everyone is stuck on it now.....just my two cents

A friend of mine was playing this cd in the car and it took all I had not to open the door and jump out and find relief by smashing my head on the L.A. freeway.

They're a bad carbon copy of Queen. I hope they go away soon.

Their album has two or three great tracks and the rest is awful.

Great performers though.

Not sure of them as performers (the video is kind of funny and entertaining) but there are only like two decent songs on the album...and the rest is awful. Took the word right out of my mouth.

My friend just bought this album and it left me wondering who authorized this shit to be produced.

It's just really bad and my friend felt like someone just punched him in the mouth and stole $15 out of his pocket.

I was lucky that I shopped around and only got it for $7.99. Shit! I wouldn't pay regular price for a CD from a new group that I've never heard!

The Darkness are pure trash, but that's what makes them so good. biggrin

It's all fun y'all and I get the impression that they're taking the piss outta themselves more than anything else. Plus you have to take into account that their musicianship is flawless, and they definetly rock. nod
Some people are like Slinkies...

They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

I live in the small town of Lowestoft from which The Darkness hail.

Up until just recently its been The Darkness fever since last summer. Fucking Darkness this and Darkness that.... rolleyes

Their frontman Justin seems to be very creative and a damn good guitarist so y'll be seeing alot more of these guys in the future, hopefully with materiel that doesnt make ya wanna tear yr own cranium off and gouge out yr own brains with a desert spoon.

I hate 2 say it but I think these guys are gonna go on 2 be legends. They are in a genre of their own at the moment and their rock is irrisistably mainstream.
I can see myself becoming a fan before long and thas got nothing 2 do with getting cought up in the hometown hype.

I think they're good - in the sense that they recognize a style that has been demonized, and so they're exploiting that genre. In two albums, they'll be over the gimmick and trying to be taken seriously.

For those of you that hate it and don't get it - imagine if a new RnB band came out in space suits and Gheri Curls, sweatbands and high-heel boots, the RnB/Urban scene might go batshit crazy because they recognize that this band would be saying "Hey, this demonized genre was popular for a reason, and we're going to play up on that".

Their song is pretty annoying, but once I saw the video, I thought, "oh, I get it - they're making fun of a genre that they obviously really like". No different than Blink 182 or Green Day's homage to early 80's punk... and now those bands are considered leaders of the rebirth of punk.

The sad thing is, we're running out of dead genres to exploit. It's only a matter of time before we're exploiting genres that died four weeks ago.

Like, Joss Stone's cover of "Fell in Love With a Boy" - what the hell is that? Can you legitimately do a cover of a song that was actually popular TWO YEARS ago?

I can't wait until a new music revolution knocks corporate rock on it's ass again.

nod

I think they're cool, shame over here (England) being as they come from here their music has been vastly over paid and pretty much killed it for so many of us!
JaneyPoos used to be it... then they changed what it was. Now what I am isn't it and what is it is strange and frightening to me...
