Prince "Dear Mr Man" borrows heavily from James Brown "People get up and drive your funky soul"

did someone else notice this too?
I'm not saying it's completely the same (the tempo got slowed down somewhat) but the bass & groove structure are very similar

...maybe to much to be a conicidence?? hehe ...no problem there of course, both are great songs to me nod

hmmmm... time to blast the Motherlode again headbang

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I really don't hear that. A tad similar, but I think you're reaching... But you have inspired me to dust Motherlode off and give it a listen. I love that live version of "There It Is"

MOtherlode is a fantastic funk album!!I gotta re-purchase it because they have the rematsered version out now.But I hear no similarities between the 2 songs. The keys may be the same ,but the actual bass rhythm is not.Plus ,that can be said about a million different songs.I do think the 2 songs, musically, come from the same mindset, though. There's a joy and a sadness in these songs.Kinda' like when I used to live in this one particular neighborhood on Atlanta and I would see these great black men ,who were in excellent shape and smart men, spend the whole day playing craps and drinking 40's all day instead of working or creating something great.Y'a know..I love them and I feel good about them because I partly understand, but I also am very angry and disappointed with them. There's a funky melancholy going on.
