YOUR FAVOURITE BALLAD EVER?

The new kids on the block released a gorgeous ballad in 1991 called "If you go away"! (it is also featured on their underated 1994 album "face the music")

Gorgeous track, makes me cry a little! The production, the voices, the instruments all fit perfectly! The middle 8 in the song is phenomonal and the track (on the album version) has proberly the most beutiful fade ever!

Laura - Charlie Parker version
When I Fall in Love - Nat King Cole
Misty - Ella Fitzgerald version
Chances Are - Johnny Mathis
Autumn in New York - Sarah Vaughan version
After the love is gone - EWF

IMO, it's hard to beat the standards for classic ballads.

'Darkest Dreaming' - David Sylvian

'Svefn-g-Englar' - Sigur Ros

'Little Star' - Stina Nordenstam
(it reminds me of one special nite in Dublin with someone where EVERYTHING seemed SO perfect...and that memory is just mine...and his.)

'Kissing You' - Des'ree (as above, but not as intense)

'Wake Up In New York' - Craig Armstrong feat. Evan Dando

'The Crying Game' - Kylie's live performance when I saw her in Manchester, 2002... her vocal soared and I wasnt the only poof crying...*

and...it's not a 'ballad' per se, but Skunk Anansie's 'Secretly' always gets me, every damned time.

*this very same performance is available on the 'FEVER2002' Live DVD

Ooh! That's a beautiful song, and definitely a favorite of mine!

Another ballad I love, though a little cheesy, is "Too Beautiful For Words" by Christina Aguilera.

i really dig Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler.

So essentially 80's over the top. Brilliant stuff.

She does a rad version of Bridge over Troubled Water, too.

i like 'still got the blues for you' a lot. i believe it's from gary moore? not the best ballad ever, but definitely a very nice song. also i love 'jesus to a child' from george michael, but that's not exactly a cheery love song. or else 'careless whispers'. definitely drama queen stuff! but apart from that a really nice song..
