comparing 3000s love below to prince is like comparing miles davis to kenny g. okay a bit harsh maybe....but can someone please explain the similaraties?
where are the timeless songs..the amazing musicianship..the fantastic singing etc it just seems the media are getting so lazy that anyone with a fendora and a fur coat is going to get compared to prince(throw in a few voice distortions, strings and attempt a falsetto and bobs ur uncle..your the new p!) when will people see we will never get another prince in our lifetime? im often amazed how lucky i am to witness him in my lifetime!

You'd think from the title to this topic that you are comparing Prince to Kenny G. and claiming that Andre is equalent to Miles...

Andre's vocal range is very limited and at times he sounds like he's struggling to hit the notes right. The track similarly named "God" was like hearing Andre talk to himself while no one is aound. Actually, I was so disappointed with Speakerboxx that I forgot that once you open a CD, you can't return it. I went to Circuit City and attempted to get a refund.
I agree, we're never gonna get another artist quite like Prince.

I agree, we're never gonna get another artist quite like Prince. Andre has admitted that he's not a singer, but more of a melody maker.

The love below is a very good cd with a lot of funky tunes on it, but Andre is definitely no Prince. Andre has no originality whatsoever. Prince has done everything Andre is now doing. Andre can not sing, can't dance and is not even close to being as fine as Prince is. So many artists today are being compared to Prince, but no one can touch him. They don't even come close!

musical comparisons like these are so Ninth grade

Amen.
That reminds me of when Norm Macdonald hosted the SNL news... Kenny G had released a Christmas album and Norm goes, "Happy Birthday Jesus. I hope you like crap." Man was it funny. "She made me glad to be a man"

If Prince did a song as good as Spread or Dracula's Wedding, or She Lives In My Lap, or Roses, you would have called him the second coming of Christ. Give me a break! This album is universally hailed as a classic album by critics and music buyers. No, Prince fanatics know more than anyone else. Sheesh.
Just admit it, Andre is Prince's successor. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Lots of people think Prince can't sing either. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Andre3000 may be Prince's successor as far as being eccentric. But why compare apples and oranges? Yes the similarities are there, but Andre is fusing some of Prince's style into his own brand of hip-hop just as Prince fused James, Sly, and Jimi into his own brand of funk/rock.

Why can't people just be influenced by Prince?!? My god everybody from Lenny to Dangelo get blasted for being influenced by P. Everytime someone makes something that has a little Minny sound to it or sounds like a song from SOTT 2 things happen 1 someone declares the artist the new prince and 2 then they get blasted for forever for sounding like him. Andre is a fan like the rest of us here and he was in the positon to make an album and decided to use P as one of his influences what is wrong with that? If you want to see a time when people were really biting prince's style look at the mid 80's with groups like Ready for the World and others. But if people insist on ripping Prince influenced artists why stop at prince influences lets rip some other artists old and newer who have been influenced....
KC and Sisqo they sound like Bobby Womack Teddy Pendergrass sounds like Marvin Junior of the Dells Charlie Wilson lead of the Gap Band obviously influenced by Stevie Wonder's vocals Does that make these artists any less great or talented because they have been influenced? Yeah I guess so since none of them can dance like Prince or play 100 instruments like Prince or has hair like Prince...or.....

"The Love Below" is okay but it is not the great LP folks want to make it out to be. Andre 3000 wants to be Prince so fucking bad that it kills him! Why people wanna compare this clown to Prince is unfuckingbelieveable! He's overrated and just needs to get back with his partner Big Boi and make more good LP's.

Jaheim sounds like Teddy Pendergrass R. Kelly tries to sound like Marvin Gaye And yes...TTD was obviously influnced by Sam Cooke

I love The Love Below. Yes it's influenced by Prince. Who cares? The songs are great. There are many fans who miss the young, crazy-sexual Prince. The Love Below is a great album for them. Is Andre better than Prince? No, I don't think so. But he made a great album. How many other rappers are capable of a work like the Love Below? And remember, Prince had/has many influences. He may have been the best at bringing many different influences together and creating his own sound out of them but where would he be without those influences?
