The Grey Album

Has anyone heard this yet? It's an album-length bootleg mash-up of The Beatles' White Album with Jay Z's Black Album.

From all that I've heard, the DJ (some dude named Danger Mouse) did a brilliant job with it. I read a story on it last night, and the DJ said he put tons of work into it...hopefully it'll start popping up on the net soon...?

Picked up a Snide copy yesterday. Given it one listen through, and its not bad.

I aint that big on the Hip Hop thing, but the Beatles sounds do give it a different edge. I did find it getting a bit repetative towards the end, and some of the tracks seemed to have been arranged along a similar structure, but considering the work he put into it, I think its worth a listen.
I will have to listen back over the White album to compare what he has done to that, coz I cant really remember much of it tday, but the Beatles samples do sound quite chopped up, but they do still hold a Beatltes sound on the album.

From NME "Every sound you hear is off the White Album" dangermouse stresses. "I spent four solid days separating every single note that didn't have vocals on it. Every guitar line, drumkit sound, snare, hi-hat, everything. It was very tedious but I couldn't stop. I though Someone's gonna f**king think of this before me. I wanted to do it first and do it properly."
And do it properly he has, for the Grey Album has transcended the wacky factor and become a unique peice of work in its own right.

Gonna give it a decent listen this weekend, and I gotta review in NME here, so when I can I'll copy it out, and let ya know more about the tracks. thumbs up!

I found da goods...fun stuff, but not as good as what I was expecting. Just more proof that Jay Z can make anything, from Beyonce to the Beatles, just a little bit more boring. zzz
