Overrated Artists Which artists do you feel are overrated?
My votes go to: Patti Labelle (The screamer!) Justin Timberlake (The Wannabee) Madonna (This chick just can't sing a lick!) Ruben Studdard (I'm Sorry For Ruben!)

You have to admit that as a youngster he was the real deal.

You have to admit that as a youngster he was the real deal. You're right - I agree. The Jackson 5ive are amongst my favorites, and even the Jacksons (Triumph is a GREAT album). But Michael's all about hype and media now. Overated.

I'm gonna get slapped down by some big time fan here, but...
Bob Dylan. Just think there have been much better songwriters, even in the same style.

I love Patti Patti, but she does have the tendency to yell the hell outta songs. I would also add Miss Alicia Please to that list.

Beyonce Justin Timberlake Britney Spears Norah Jones Alicia and Norah are talented girls, though. Yes, that's very true. They are both indeed very talented ladies, but no where near as talented as Bob Dylan and look what you said about him Bob is an icon. There will never be another songwriter like him. He is the absolute best songwriter we've had in years.

I think he's a great songwriter, but i think he's the most overrated just because of the phenomenal weight given to his lyrics.

I respect your opinion, however, Dylan's lyrics are some of the most moving and passionate lyrics I've ever heard. Obviously, I'm a huge Dylan fan and biased too, but I just love the man and think he one of the most talented songwriters we have. Check out Blood on the tracks. Amazing cd and so passionate.

In no particular order:
Lenny Kravitz Norah Jones D'Angelo Maxwell The Fugees Although I love him dearly, the post-"Mercury Falling" Sting Angie Stone (singing over someone else's samples isn't soul music) OutKast (a great hip-hop act but "S-boxx/TLB" was a big hit-and-big miss affair) Thicke (just didn't feel much of his much-ballyhooed LP, but mebbe I should give it time) Most hip-hop acts these days are overrated. It's hard for me to say this since I own and enjoy something from all of these artists. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

***Alicia Keyes---yes,she is talented, she can play piano and writes most of her own lyrics. But her music isn't all THAT original. She's good and one day she may become something spectacular, but so far,she hasn't really impressed me.I certainly don't think her debut CD deserved FIVE grammys.
***Lenny Kravitz---there is absolutely NOTHING original about this guy.He rips off every artist that he was inspired by.Why listen to his CDs when you can just buy a CD from any early-70s rock band? ***Eminem---yes,he's an okay rapper but he is extremely overrated.Critics rave about his lyrics, but what's so groundbreaking and creative about homophobic,sexist,hate-filled,violent lyrics? There are many other rappers who have been doing that for years! ***Ruben Studdard---are his fifteen minutes up yet?

True that, and he is the worst guitar-player ***Eminem---..... There are many other rappers who have been doing that for years! yes, but those rappers are not white, therefore hype! All his stuff sounds the same to me. And although his lyrics are supposed to be ironic the dumbass majority of his audience fail to see it that way. Promoting and making light of misogyny, violence and homophobia is disgusting no matter which angle you approach it from.
