I've gone cuckoo for the Pixies!

So as I'm geting ready for work this morning I flipped the radio on to hear the weather. I'm pulling on my green plaid tights when low and behold they mention a Pixies show in Minneapolis at the Fine Line! My heart starts racing and my ears perk up. The Fine Line is a very intimate venue, a cute little club that holds about 700 people. It can't be true! I thought. I began to contemplate getting to work late if I needed to figure out when tickets were on sale. The next thing they announce is that I am too late. That's right, the tickets went on sale YESTERDAY! They sold out in 3 minutes. I seriously sat down and cried. The Pixies are one of my favorite-est bands in the world ever. And I only ever got to see them open up for U2 in 1992 from nosebleed seats. I was off to a horrible day. I got to work and sent an emotional outpouring to friends and co-workers alike. I mentioned giving up my first born and other crazy monetary sums for anyone willing to give up a ticket. I got lots of "That sucks!" replies and words of encouragement, but none of my friedns had heard about it in time either. A close friend who is also a big fan suggested we get several bottles of booze and listen to all of our albums and cry that night. I replied it was either that or ritual suicide, and I'm too young and pretty to die.
Around 10 am I got a reply from a co-worker who is also a big music fan. He had put the word out to his army of music fans and his friend's co-worker had an extra ticket she'd part with for $200. I hemmed and hawed at the price, but ultimately, I decided to go for it. I may be crazy, and I may be broke. But I'm gonna see the Pixies. woot!

I looked on ebay and that seems to be about the going rate for a ticket give or take. They need to add a show or something.

My friend told me last night that the tix went on sale at 1:05 (through Drive 105). I was certain they'd be gone by now. We were at the Liz Phair concert at First Ave when she told me so I had no access to the internet. I love the Pixies too!

And being at First Ave made me want to watch Purple Rain.

They NEED to, but they won't. Apparently, this was supposed to be a secret show announced only a day or 2 before it actually happened but somewhere between the Pixie's agent and the club that got mixed up. This show actually happens before the tour officially starts. All the other shows on the tour are at theatres and other larger venues. So this is REALLY something special. I'm sooooo excited I can hardly stand it! Now I just gotta find a way for another friend to get in. It won't be quite the same if I have to go alone. But then, who cares? I'm seeing the Pixies. dancing jig
