Paul Simon Songbook released on March 23 I have a feeling not many people here will care, but I just found out that Paul Simon's 'lost album', the Paul Simon Songbook, is being released by Columbia/Legacy on March 23, and I am very excited.
The album was recorded with just Paul, a guitar, and a microphone, in one hour in 1965, and is made up of early 'stripped-down' versions of many Simon & Garfunkel tunes, for UK audiences. He later refused a CD release - it's believed that he felt it wasn't up to his standards at the time CD releases were discussed. I'm guessing he's still not supporting the release, as it's got no press over at paulsimon.com (which hasn't been updated since last fall). Columbia/Legacy always does a masterful job of reissues, though, and this should be great. Here's Legacy's page on the release. Here's Amazon's page. | |
