I don't like or even understand this term 'Overrated'. If i don't like someone, i just don't like them.
Having said that, U2 and the constant plaudits they get kind of pisses me off!

I like some of their work, mostly the experimental tracks... but the 'God rock' stuff can go shit itself down the toilet.

***Justin Timberlake---so he's got a few catchy songs, but what's the big deal about this guy? He's basically just a second-rate MJ-wannabee (just like Britney is a second-rate Madonna wannbee),who works with all the hot R&B/hip-hop producers. His music is plastic, forced and totally derivative.Sometimes, disposable pop can be fun and admittedly,"Rock Your Body" wasn't half bad,but to call him the new "King Of Pop" is just absurd.

M'shell Ndegeocello I bought Instant Vintage and Comfort Woman, gave them the requisite minimum of 3 plays beore rendering a verdict and then gave them away to my son's friends. Instant Vintage tries so hard to be a Stevie Wonder opus that it hurts to see the effort, and Comfort Woman was just boring; New Power Soul has more interest for me than that one. I also don't like M'shells monotonous voice. One more, Sheryl Crow - the teenagers playing old Ska music in my basement on weekends have more originality than this woman. *****************************************

With all due respect, you have absolutely no earthly idea of what REAL music is supposed to sound like. Plus the fact, the brotha is not even overrated...he's seriously UNDERRATED. But, you are entitled to your opinion. [This message was edited Tue Mar 9 12:51:51 2004 by okaypimpn]

Yes, STEVIE WONDER... What has he done lately??? His voice is GONE, much like George Clinton's, Bob Dylan's, etc. The brilliance of his early stuff is unquestionable...but, he's riding on reputation for the last 20 years. The 80's stuff was HORRENDOUS... It happens to alot of folks...Elton John, Rod Stewart, Micheal Jackson. With age, these folks have lost their singing voice. Prince is still crystal clear, still jamming, and still underrated. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Revolution said: Yes, STEVIE WONDER... What has he done lately??? His voice is GONE, much like George Clinton's, Bob Dylan's, etc. He didn't have to do anything lately. His legacy has been secure for more than 2 generations now. He could have stopped recording after 1976 and that would still have been the case. If Stevie Wonder is overrated so is everyone who ever garnered acclaim, including Prince. And Dylan never had a voice to lose. This post not for the wimp contingent. Madonna When was the last time you heard how great Madonna's music is, or oh my god Madonna's newest lyrics are simply the best there is???? I don't recall its ever happened. The success of Like a Prayer was always credited to Patrick Lennord and Steven Bray. The press always talks about William Orbit when comes to Ray of Light and Marwais when comes to Music. No rock critic pays Madonna any mind musiclly. When people speak of Madonna its her image, opinions, clothes, and boyfriends/husbands they talk about. Don't cufuse overrated with overexposed. Poor lonely computer overrated and overexposed both have the same prefix but totally different meanings. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

forgot something... Madonna will get no respect as a songwriter/producer because her chosen field of music is Dance. Music of the gay men. No selfrespecting rock critic can call dance an art form with caring about since most dance artist last 6mons-year oh an they macho straight men. Hhhhhhmmmmm 21 years since Everybody and people still rush to the floor when the new Madonna mix comes on.
