These neo soul artist have a short lifespan, and not a wealth of material to sing about. It seems like all they ever have is one good album in them. After I saw Maxwell's first show I thought he was in line to become the next great live performer after Prince.

I've never seen him live, but a good friend of mine has about 3 years ago, and she said he was absolutely amazing. He really needs to put out a new record! I was just listening to Embrya last night.
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

woman's work - is fantabulous - love it love it love it!!!

his live performance was muy fantabulous!!!! he was perfection!!! he took one piece of Prince and perfected it! he could never be as diverse as Prince but he's still awesome. i'd be more impressed if he actually wrote some of his music. but he sure sings it like it's his though!!!!

go to www.wireimage.com and type in maxwell - you'll see he has been to almost every movie premiere, and hits a lot of parties . . . so he's still hanging out . . .

out of the closet yet? doubt it - you never seem him out with a guest - male or female . . .

i sure hope the album rumors are true!!!! i can't wait for a new one!!!!!

Lanae what are you talking about? Maxwell writes all of his own music...What planet are you on? As far as "A Woman's Worth" I prefer the Unplugged version to the studio version. Maxwell always takes his time between albums. It takes him usually 2-3 years per album. Also, Neo-Soul is a lame excuse...Maxwell is a soul artist. His music is sometimes too deep for the general soul consumer. Embrya was way to deep for them to process...

Maxwell's new album on Columbia Records will be called "Black Summer's Night.
" He's putting the finishing touches on it and starting to think about a video.
Who will direct? "I want Anthony Minghella," he said. Why not aim high? So Maxwell went right up to Minghella and asked him to do it. "And he said 'Yes.'
How do you like that?"
The album and the video — with whoever directing it — is scheduled for March 2004.

Its it funny if an artist nowadays doesn't put out new music every 6months their career is "over". Maxwell is AWESOME live and is a wonderful soul artist.

the neo thing is bullshit.

People are making soul music for today, from their experiences, etc. Don't hate.

It's weird, because back in the 70s, Stevie Wonder had to APOLOGIZE for the 2-year gap before the release of Songs In The Key Of Life. He wore t-shirts emblazoned with "WE'RE ALMOST DONE!".

Soul artists in the 60s and 70s used to do one or two albums a year, on average. Remember Stevie's line of masterpieces?

Depends...

The live version on his Unplugged was AMAZING, but the studio version he did later on "Now" sucked nuts...
