Favorite Broadway Tune

I'm not a big fan of showtunes, but I really love "On My Own" from Les Miserables (the best musical ever!) and "I Know the Truth" from Aida. What about you guys?
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

My personal favorites are "One Hand, One Heart" from West Side Story, "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" and "I Am Changing" both from Dreamgirls and "Being Alive" from Company.

Does "The Origin of Love" from Hedwig and the Angry Inch count?

That song kicks my ass.

my other fave, probably tied with "On My Own" from Les Miz, would be "Seasons of Love" from Rent...

'being alive' from company (Actually the whole musical 'company' is perfect...that and 'Assassins' are sondheim's most interesting works)....

stephen sondheim has written some of the most interesting, challenge and creative musicals of all time...it's just unfortunate that the broadway musical has changed from being an artistic endeavour to a strip of Disney-animated-features-turned-musicals, 70's/80's-cult-pop-star-music-turned-musicals, and revivals-of-revivals-of not very interesting in this day in age-musicals.

that's my rant out of the way.

OH YES YES YES!! I was almost going to say "putting it together" but then realized that this wasnt my favorite sondheim...then my mind geared towards America..

but Being Alive ROCKS!!

theres another song that kicks but...its from the revival which name escapes me....it was with Carol Burnett...she is a lush and drinks during the song....and there are like two minute versus without room for a breath...its a beautiful exercise in vocals....

something about "dont really want to, today"...i could be wrong..its been years...errr...damn my memory!! lol

the song u are thinking about is 'i'm not getting married today' - which is also from company! Carol Burnett sang it live at Carnegie Hall as part of a Sondheim tribute/retrospective

who ever decided on this topic is a genius! i've been having a sondheim kind of day lol

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
