DO you think Glam metal will ever make a comeback?

You know, ratt, poison, motley crue-those kind of bands--has the emergence of the group the DARKNESS signaled the beginning of next-gen WARRANTS and BON JOVIS?
Let the rain come down...17 days....

Being a guy that came from that music era, I've gotta say that The Darkness are a pale comparison to that genre, and I don't think that those days can ever properly be repeated.

nod

The whole "glam metal" revival has been very tongue-in-cheek, which kind of defeats the purpose of the whole genre.

I thought the whole glam metal thing already did make a comeback last year, what with The Darkness and all the VH-1 retro specials.

I sure hope so, lol!

Actually, my friends and I went to see Poison last summer, and they were awesome! It was like a time warp; same costumes, same set, hell, even the fans were wearing authentic 80s clothes! I've never seen so many mullets besides the time we went to Maryland on vacation!

I've also seen Bon Jovi live, last year, although they're a little more credible than the others of that genre. They've evolved into more than just a "hair band".
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

I wonder how long The Darkness will last? They seem like a novelty act.

Yeah, honestly I think The Darkness have more in common with Spinal Tap than any other 80s metal group. The band sounds alright, but that dude's voice...shoot him and put us out of OUR misery.

As long as its more in the vein of Ratt, G&R and early Motley Crue. I hated it in the late 80s when all the watered down pop versions appeared: Poison (They were "Theater Of Pain" era Crue, only watered down. They also wrote the single stupidest song ever written "Unskinny Bop"), Warrent (A watered down Poison), Winger (A watered down Warrent) and other craptacular acts like The Bullett Boys, Slaughter and Kingdom Come barf

To me, The Darkness is much more 70s flavoured. The lead singer looks like he inherited Freddie Mercury's wardrobe.
