I know this song but I don't remember this version. The Jones Girls came to mind, but my sister said it wasn't them. She think's it was a group with the name Harlettes in it. (Bette Midler's Harlettes, maybe?) I think she's on the right track.

Oh, yeah...I know the Supremes did this, but that's not the version I'm hearing in my head, either.

Help!

I'm surprised more people don't know about this track. It's quintessential late-60's Motown and it's played quite often on oldies stations. Bobby Taylor & The Vancouvers was one of the few racially mixed groups at Motown; in a way, they were Motown's answer to The Foundations.

I know this is about Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers' version but this thread got my thongs all in a bunch because I COULD NOT remember who did it over. Thanks to my sister who gave me the "Harlettes"--I see it was Bette Midlers' ladies Sharon Redd (my girl!), Ula Hedwig and Charlotte Crossley or "Formerly Known As the Harlettes"!

Know I can sleep well tonight. biggrin

There's a 1975 remake of this song by The 21st Century.

Don't think I know that version. But Formerly of the Harlettes (I got it wrong above) version is smooth. btw Actress Katey Segal was a Harlette too!

Does anyone else remember the 21st Century? They were a Jackson 5-sounding group, and I think their biggest hit was "Remember The Rain" (1975)...

"Can you remember the rain?
can you remember the rain?
You left me for somebody else
now I must face...life by myself"

Oh, crap! You are so out of control, DE! I remember this, but I don't think I could've told you the name of the group for a million bucks!
