IS Chaka's CD COME 2 MY HOUSE all that bad??

I don't know why folks resent this and frankly I couldn't give a shit!

This was my VERY 1st album I bought from Chaka(and Prince 4 that matter too) it introduced me to both of their worlds when I was stuck in that modern RnB/Hip-Hop bullshit.

She states in her book that its her "favorite album 2 date"! personaly, its nice to hear some fresh & raw shit at a time when everything was so damn polished(and considering that it was only recorded in ONLY 3 weeks, it ain't that bad at all).

Hell, its waaaay betta than I Feel 4 U & Disteny IMHO!

Criticaly? It blasted the reviews but it didn't went anywhere commercially(which I think thats the reason why her fans don't like it. If I Feel 4 U bombed they would say the same bullshit to that album).

Go get it if you don't have it!

I like that album a lot. There's several great songs on it- "This Crazy Life of Mine," "Pop My Clutch," "Journey 2 the Center of Your Heart," "Democrazy," and "The Drama". Good stuff.

It's the only Chaka studio album I own so far and while I find it good, heartfelt and funky, it's nohting amazing. It's very good but it didn't blow me away, nor did I expect it too (remember, this album was made around the same time as NPS).

I dont think its terrible, its pretty decent. BUT, I cant agree when you say that the I FEEL 4 U Album was crap. That album and the CHAKA KHAN album from 82 are my favorites from her. I love when an artist does something thats outta the ordinary and different. Nobody thought that Chaka Khan woulda EVER come out with a album like I FEEL 4 U at that time. I honestly love that album. I will pick up COME 2 MY HOUSE today.

C2MH isn't really all that "production-wise" but something about Chaka's vibe makes it damn good, she didn't sounded like she was forced or anything, like Prince said in the liner notes "What you hear in this album is freedom". She just sounds like she was having a blast of a time.

Harlepolis, its funny you say that I FEEL 4 U has a "do this or you're out" sound to it because someone told me once that Warner Bros wasnt satisfied with the sales of 1982's CHAKA KHAN lp(even though it won a Grammy) and that if her next project didnt sell substantially she would lose her contract at WB so what you said makes sense..LOL...plus I know that Chaka didnt wanna do I Feel 4 U(the song) and I know its not among her favorites as she doesnt like Through The Fire either....so you have some validity. What did you think of the studio songs on the Epiphany CD? I liked them a lot. Especially Never Miss The Water, the Fleetwood Mac remake and Something Deep. I wish she would go back to the Rufus stle songs. I was listening to the song DESTINY from STREET PLAYER, Little Boy Blue and Everlasting Love and sister was sangin her face off!! Its like those songs have such an aura about them

I love this album,and I can't figure out why it doesn't get alot of love from the fans.This is a consistently solid album----"The Drama","Spoon","This Crazy Life Of Mine" and the title track are all top-notch songs.Chaka sings with her usual passion,and Prince does as a great job as producer (many of theses songs are better than the tracks on his own 'NPS' album).
