Bonus Super 70's Soul Song Of The Day(2/23/04): The Four Tops-Are You Man Enough?(1973)

These lyrics dealing with standing strong in the face of adversity demands a great lead vocalist. No doubt Four Tops lead singer Levi Stubbs is the man for the job. This is a great 70's soul/R&b track. Levi sings with great passion, clarity and honesty on this one.

Enjoy,
Brother 9/15

cause you never know, where the knife will go,and they ain't missed yet
the strong survive, they stay alive, they're always cool
but that they never teach you in school"

this is probably my favorite (post-Motown) Four Tops song. It's the theme song for one of those blaxploitaion movies (I think "Shaft In Africa"?).

yes, the song appeared on the "Shaft in Africa" Soundtrack, and also on "Main Street People" about a year before (1973).
Also one of my Four Top Faves, great powerful track. but hey, after all any track can be powerful with the voice of Levie Stubbs backing it up, right? lol
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

the tops went through a few Label changes from being with Motown for many years, in 1972 they left Motown and signed with Abc/Dunhill and had a few Major singles with them, then in 1980 the tops went to 20th century records. and had great success with them, then went back to Motown.
