Some details of Outkast's new film...

'Kasting Call
(Thursday February 19, 2004 11:46 AM)

OutKast have confirmed that production of the film "Speakerboxx" will begin in May for the television company HBO.

The film, being steered by "Hey Ya" and "Way You Move" director Bryan Barber, will be accompanied by a complete soundtrack of new material which will also be officially released as OutKast 's next album.

The tireless duo of Big Boi and Andre are currently at work on the music.

"It's funk music," Big Boi told Rolling Stone. "As long as it's funky and the vibes keep coming we're going to keep grinding it."

Director Bryan Barber describes the film as a "1930s period piece and musical" positioned somewhere between "The Colour Purple"and "Amelie".

"A lot of the music inspired the scenes and the scenes inspired other music," he says.
