Bonus Old School Pop Track Of The Day(2/18/04): Kenny Loggins-Heart To Heart

It's time for Brother 9/15 to come at you with another great pop hit out of the 80's. This one is from great singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins. A song that not only made the pop charts but crossed over and received R&B radio airplay as well. I never get tired of hearing this song. The lyrics, production, arragements and background vocals all flow together to make this one a nice pop gem. I love to hear Loggins go in falsetto mode on the verses right before the chorus.
They don't make pop music like this anymore people.....

Speaking of the chorus.....

"Darlin'
Tell the truth
Don't turn away
This is our last chance
To touch each others hearts
Does anything last forever?
I don't know
Maybe we're near the end
Darlin' how can we go on together
Now that we've grown apart
Well the only way to start
Is heart to heart"

Enjoy,
Brother 9/15

u are just on a good fuckin roll this mawnin aintcha,if u think about it, this song is so painful, about the trials of a marriage gone bad and divorcing and a child caught in the middle of it. but a beautiful song indeed.

Bro915, you are SO on point with this 1.

Kenny Loggins has several well-written, "pop-oriented" songs, but this is 1 of my 2 all-time favorites of his - the other being, of course This Is It..

you mentioned the "bridge/chorus" of the song, which IS great..
but I appreciate the lyrics of the verses even more, especially the line :

"1 by 1, we're collecting lies
when you can't give love, you give alibis"

how true, how TRUE, that 2nd line..

of course, the other great thing about this song is that none other than the VERY SOULFUL Michael McDonald "background" vocals..

this is a GREAT song.
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

From... "The Real Thing" by Kenny Loggins (about the break up of his marraige to Eva Loggins). It's a note to his kids... fucking incredible!

"You're so afraid your life is over
And nothing I can say can change your mind
'How can anybody be so selfish, and treat you all so cruel?'
Go on and scream at me and cry
But I'll always hold you in my soul
And I'm never gonna leave you all alone
But you're Daddy doesn't live here anymore...
Ooooh Ooooh, Ooooh Ooooh...
Ooooh, Ooooh, Ooooooh!!!

I did it for you, and the boys...
Because love should teach you joy
And not some imitation
That your Mommy and Daddy tried to show you...

I did it for you, and for me...
Because I still believe
There's only one thing
You can never give up
And never compromise on...
And that's the Real Thing you need in love...

This song makes me cry every fucking time I hear it!

It's called "The Real Thing" and it's on his "Unimagineable Life" cd... sigh Damn... touched
