The rest are too horribly inconsistant. And yet you love MJ's "Dangerous" and "Invincible". Yep! Your memory serves you well. Anyhow, you like the Bad album.

Yes, just like our good friend, Cinister, this is also my favorite Madonna album. But I also like Erotica and Like a Prayer too. What? You thought I didn't like Madonna or something. Shame on you. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

No particular order:
Ray of light Like a virgin American life - Erotica (quite different records, but the both of them are very good but underrated) Like a prayer [This message was edited Thu Feb 19 10:00:52 2004 by holaketal]

AHEM! Back on topic:
1. Ray Of Light- Her most personal, artistic work. Some incredible tunes, and easily the best lyrics of her career. My favorite tune: Drowned World/Substitute For Love 2. Erotica- Just a damn solid record. Despite the title, it covers so much more than sex. Favorite tune: Bad Girl 3. Music- A fun, straight-up dance record to follow the more serious ROL. Just a blast, through and through. Favorite tune: Impressive Instant 4. Like A Prayer- This is where Madonna started to become a little more three dimensional. Her music was no longer exclusively bubblegum pop. Favorite tune: Oh Father 5. Madonna- This one has to be noted just for the fact that it was a great pop record. Add in that this was the young ladies debut, and set the tone for much of what was to come, and you've got one truly historic disc. Favorite tune: Burning Up Honorable mention goes to American Life. While I don't care for the album as a whole, the individual songs are fantastic. Favorite tune: Nothing Fails Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I would say "Like A Prayer" if they would have included "Supernatural", even if it is too poppy for the CD.

Sure it does. Like Madonna, Like A Virgin, True Blue, Erotica, Bedtime Stories and - in a few short years - Ray Of Light, Music and American Life, too.

As far as I'm concerned, Like A Virgin and True Blue are the only ones that are dated. Because the style and spirit of Erotica, Madonna, ROL and Music are being relentlessly copied years after their release by other artists (did Kylie Minogue have a copy of Erotica lying around when she was recording Body Language?). Songs like "Holiday" do not die.

We'll leave it at that Some of Dangerous is. But quite a bit of it has aged fairly well. I dunno why you had to turn this into an MJ vs Madonna thing anyway. They've both done great and not-so-great music over the years. As for Invincible... it'll probably survive better than any of his other albums due to the number of ballads on there. They're pretty timeless. And musically tracks like Invincible, 2000 Watts and Privacy sound little like anything else. Whether you like the songs or not is irrelevant.

Man, I hate the whole "dated" argument. Lots of music sounds dated. Most music made in the 80s sounds dated.
It doesn't make any of it lesser music. There's a lot of music that sounds dated that I'd rather listen to than newer garbage that doesn't sound dated.

Erotica, easy.
No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.
Sex is not love. Love is not sex. Putting words in other people's mouths will only get you elected. Need more sleep than coke or methamphetamine.

Is her best and most unappreciated. With the sex book and low sales, it just kinda came and went. This cd should be in everyones collection. Great collection of songs. Don't overlook this one. . [This message was edited Sun Feb 29 16:53:35 2004 by jthad1129] ---------------------------------

I wonder if this will happen the same with "American life". I think it's possible: erotica is more appreciatted by many people today than in 1992
