Favorite Madonna Album I've been listening to a lot of Bedtime Stories after being reminded of it from a recent thread, and I know a lot of you don't like it, but I love it. I think it very well may be my favorite album of her's after Ray of Light, which, in my opinion, tops them all by far.
So, anyway, I'm sure there have been many posts on "Favorite Madonna Album", but I've never seen one, so here ya go!

Note: I love all these albums, so it's very hard to rank them. With that qualifier, here goes:
1. Ray Of Light/ Like A Prayer (I think they're equally good) 2. Bedtime Stories - intimate, romantic and warm 3. Madonna - still one of the best dance-pop records ever 4. True Blue - her "big step forward", so to speak; some great tunes on here. 5. Erotica - it contains some of my fav. Madonna tracks incl. "Rain", "Erotica", "Bad Girl" (wow, was that a great video or what?), "In This Life", "Deeper And Deeper" and "Waiting" 6. American Life - hated by many, I can understand why; I like "Hollywood", "X-Static Process", "Nothing Fails", "Intervention", "Nobody Knows Me", "Mother And Father" and "Die Another Day" (it's ok, I guess). I HATE "I'm So Stupid" and the title track. 7. Music - highlights are "Impressive Instant", "Music", "Don't Tell Me", "What It Feels Like For A Girl" and the simple but pretty "I Deserve It" and "Gone". 8. Like A Virgin - it's the most dated of her records, but this is still gorgeous candy floss dance pop. It's hard to resist the charms "Material Girl", "Angel", "Dress You Up", "Shoo Be Doo", "Stay" and the sexy if choppy title cut. But "Pretender", "Over And Over" and "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" are not among her best (and sound like filler), so this album is ranked last.

In no particular order, my top 5 are:
Erotica Ray of Light Music Bedtime Stories American Life

In order:
Ray of Light Erotica Madonna Like a Prayer Like a Virgin Let the rain come down...17 days....

Gotta be Like A Prayer first, followed by Music.

A little OT, but does anyone prefer the house-flavoured single remix of "Keep It Together" (from "Like A Prayer") to the album version? The LP version of "Express Yourself" also pales in comparison to the single version (Local Mix), IMHO.

For many years,I had decided that 'Erotica' was my favorite Madonna album. But recently,I had a change of heart. So now, this is how my Top Madonna Albums list would look...
1. 'Ray Of Light'---I think most people (fans and critics) would agree that this is Madonna's best, most accomplished work. The first time I heard it,I was just mesmerized. This is one of those big,important,career-defining albums that every great artist makes at some point in their career (it's her 'Sign O The Times').There are so many moods and emotions going on here, and the entire thing is explosive.Madonna bared her soul on this album, and she proved that she is a creative force to be reckoned with. 2. 'Erotica'---This is Madonna's most committed dance album. When I listen to it,I feel like I'm at some underground New York nightclub,or a rave. It's the perfect early 90s club record...full of throbbing basslines, hard beats, and plenty of attitude. Most of these songs have a cold, robotic feel to them, but that was intentional.Lyrically,Madonna covers alot of ground here. There's a kinky S&M fantasy (title track),a provocative ode to oral sex ("Where Life Begins"),a lush 70s disco-sounding workout ("Deeper and Deeper"),even a couple of heartfelt ballads ("Bad Girl","Rain").On this album,Madonna was kicking ass and taking no prisoners. 3. 'Like A Prayer'---this is the album that really made me a Madonna fan.I liked a few of her earlier hits (especially "Live To Tell"),but when she came out with this masterpiece in the spring of 1989,that was it for me.I officially became a Madonna freak...lol...every song here is excellent. This album is emotionally deep and the lyrics are serious and confessional. The tilte track alone is easily the best pop single that came out that year.

btw,I need to buy a new copy of 'Ray Of Light'.I literally wore out my copy.I played that thing everyday for over a year!

Madonna [1983]
I have 'em all but lately this has been my absolute favorite. Historically, it's been like this though: 1. Like a Prayer 2. Like a Virgin-seems like people have to "defend" their liking to this record, but I really don't see any of Madonna's mid-80s tracks as filler.. They're delicious! It was also the first cassette I ever got so perhaps I'm predisposed. 3. Ray of Light

Erotica is underrated. It's a damn fine album, and the title track is killer.
After that - hmm. Like a virgin True Blue Ray of Light Like a Prayer
