This is George Duke's best album IMO. This IS one of my favorite jazz albums EVER!!!. If you like cool rhythms, solid fluid grooves and beautiful melodies, you'll enjoy this disc greatly. The title song off this album was a minor R&B hit in 1979. George was under pressure not to record this album because CBS records felt that it wouldn't sell. George had a huge hit with "Reach For It" a couple of years back and CBS felt this would aggravate his listeners. George stood firm against the executives and they let him have his artistic way. So off to Rio went George. There were too many musicians that worked on the album to mention in the outset of this thread, but there are a lot of memorable highlights on this album. Like Raul and Bill's trombone solos on "Brazilian Sugar". The cool brazilian rhythms on this recording is like a tall glass of lemonade in 95-100 degree weather, SO REFRESHING!!! Other superior standouts on this disc are "Summer Breezin" and a super tight track called "Sugar Loaf Mountain". Notable mention also goes out to Simone and Lynn Davis whose vocal performances set and solidifies the latin-brazilian mood for the duration of the album. George plays(keyboards) with assurance and bite and seems to make all the right moves. As many musicians that played on this album, George's musical presence is still felt over the course of the recording. It's really bad to hear George making the kind of music he's been making recently. Nevertheless, "Brazilian Love Affair" is a sweet reminder of George's musical capabilities and what he can accomplish when he sets his mind to it. Brother 9/15

He has a nice singing voice too
I gave it a listen(via-cduniverse with audio samples and shit lol). This is def a feel-good album! Boy, would I be glad if I could put these 2 keyboard wizardies(Herbie & George) into one room ALONE and just have 'em jam all night long. I wonder what does Herbie think of George? And vice-versa!
