Van Halen, the 1984 tour. Jacksonville Florida.
I was up front and it was loud as fuck. Eddy blew me the fuck away. He really gets down live. Real raw and punky. Or he did before Sammy Haggard. That stage was the most massive, beautiful thing I have ever seen. Speakers up the yin yang. Probably my favorite big show experience, since I have only seen Prince when he was less popular. OK, the first concert that I can remember my mother taking me to was probably the Muppet Babies show.
But actually the first concert that I had paid out of my own pocket to see was David Byrne back in 2001. I had a really nice time too. Opening for them was this cool band from New York called Si*Se.
