Bands Reunited

Im loving this show, mainly because of its honesty and respect for what its trying to do. Usually this type of show would make fun of these bands and that ERA but luckily its not. Lately bands have been tough to reunite, like one of my faves EXTREME, which had one of my favorite albums of the 90's (III sides to every story), but that is what is going to happen when their is bitterness in bands, sometimes its hard to bury that. But Im glad BERLIN started this series, not only was/is BERLIN one of my fave bands ever, I just loved to see them reform the original lineup and see them on a stage again and to take a bow together, closure is such a sweet thing to find. Also with BERLIN they were able to bury their troubles mainly because they really wanted to do it again and really had a LOVE for each other and for what they created together. Thank U bands united and VH1 for giving me that moment.

i agree, this show is very well-done.

VH1 is showing respect for these bands, and for them as individuals, and for the music. They're not treating them as 80's curiousities.

The performances have for the most part been excellent - with the possible exception of Flock of Seagulls... time has not been kind to the vocal chords of their lead singer.

But The Alarm was hot... so was Dramarama and Berlin.

My favorite so far has to be Romeo Void, not only because I love their music but because they seemed so geniunely thrilled and touched to have the opportunity to play again. It was very cool.

For sheer DRAMA, nothing was better than Klymaxx!!!

Oh thank God I'm not alone here lol I'm addicted to this show.

Anyone else have a wishlist they'd like to see on the show???

I want them to get The Thompson Twins, The Hooters, The Romantics, and The Tubes. I also think it would be cool if they had a kind of "follow-up" show to see if all these bands went back to not talking to each other, or they mended fences.

Here's who I think should be the subject of future shows:

Level 42
The Thompson Twins
Gang of Four
Spandau Ballet (yes, I know that'll be a challenge.)
Til' Tuesday
The Specials (this might also be a chllenge.)
Shalamar (Howard, Jody, & Jeffery of course)
ABC
Nu Shooz
Devo
and...

THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF THE TIME!!!

The Romeo Void episode was my favorite so far. But
this show needs a good dose of V_A_R_I_E_T_Y by stopping the tokenism. There's more than just the cat-fighting Klymaxxx out there. Stop throwing the viewers a bone! Usually VH1 is a solid station, but they've gotten off to the wrong foot by being one-dimensional.

I could name more, but some bands disbanded after a member (or members) died.

Most of those bands are still together,in some form or another.Cameo always comes to my area, but I haven't had a chance to check them out yet.War is still together and they performed in my area a few days ago (they were the musical act at a Latin Comedy concert).Tierra is still together, performing on those Super Oldies R&B tours (I saw them about a year ago).Arrested Development briefly reunited last year and performed at a local club in my city. Not sure if they have all the original members though.

KC and the Sunshine Band are still together.Go to their official site, they tour all the time.As for LaBelle...several years ago,Patti was very enthusiastic about a reunion with the other two girls. But I guess it never materialized. It would be cool to see a Shalamar reunion as well.Howard Hewitt and Jeffrey Daniels want to do it,but according to Hewitt,Jody is not interested.

Except for War and Arrested Development (of those you mentioned), I wouldn't pay to see the rest of them. I just want to see them reunite ON TV. biggrin

Sure, but not being interested doesn't stop the show from trying to get these folks together.

PrimordialOoze

Count me in as another who is completely addicted to this show and thinks it's extremely well done on all levels.

I have a question about the episode trying to reunite Extreme, though - am I just imagining things, or did the 'preview' for the Extreme episode that was shown the night before show one of the the Extreme guys (not sure which one. I am not that familiar with them as a band) saying that one of the other guys was "f***ing my girlfriend, and STILL IS!" and was looking very pissed. But then when the actual episode was shown, there was nothing like that in the whole episode and nothing ever mentioning or alluding to such a situation within the band.

It just really confused me. I figured maybe since things obviously didn't go too well with reuniting Extreme, VH1 got told they had to edit that whole thing (about someone stealing/screwing someone else's girl) out of the show Anybody know what I'm talking about here?

As for bands I'd like to see them try to reunite, I agree with a lot of the suggestions already mentioned on this thread. I'd also love to see them *try* (I know there's not a snowball's chance in hell of it working out but it'd be cool to watch VH1 try..) to reunite The Smiths for just one night.

Whoa, whoa, wait a sec, why did you mention the B-52's and Tom Tom Club? They're still together, you know? As a matter of fact both bands were on tour together in 2002. I saw them in Central Park, N.Y. Oh and The Pretenders are still together too. They released a new album and DVD last year.

Now, The Specials is a band that you should add on to your list. All the ska fans around the world (including myself) would be itching to see that one.

No, I didn't know that. They must just do small tours.

Oh and The Pretenders are still together too. They released a new album and DVD last year.

hmmm But they have different members nowadays. And I'm not talking about because of the deaths of James Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon as the original lineup. The Pretenders have gone thru about 3 different lineup changes since their inception - I just want to see the second lineup with Robbie McIntosh and Malcolm Foster. Not the session musicians the band eventually employed. For a while there even original mainstay drummer Martin Chambers wasn't with the group.

But you already had them in your list, I was just picking up the slack.

Actually, that lineup from Learning to Crawl was OK, but it was not as good as the original line-up or the current one (Hynde, Chambers, Adam Seymour, Andy Hobson). The current incarnation has been together for about 10 years now, and it is fine the way it is.

No matter, it was the LEARNING TO CRAWL album. Nothing they've done since has been as good, and they're as close to the original lineup as anybody's gonna get.

Let's get REAL here, this is the same show that reunited DramaFRIGGINRama. Please.
