No Matter How Many Times You Hear It On The Radio..... Sometimes there are songs that over the years we get tired of hearing...however there are songs that we are partial to no matter what...For example here at the Org I've noticed many people feeling like I do...They get tired of hearing Heatwave's "Always And Forever" on old school R&B radio stations. Another song that people have stated they get tired of hearing is Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On". Even though that song is 100% greatness...people just get sick and tired of hearing it...
The following are a list of songs that even though they're popular, maybe even CLASSIC and get played on radio stations alot...I never get tired of hearing them...If I flip to it on a radio station and they're in the middle of the song...I have to finish listening to it to the very end. Sometimes I will even get annoyed that I missed the song from the beginning...Most of these come from the 70's...wouldn't you know it... Barry White- I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More (1973)...Who can resist that beat at the beginning of the song and that synth/keyboard riff followed by that DEEP DEEP voice of The Maestro..."Feel so good...you're lying next to me"...Just a gorgeous song with a nice arrangement. Parliament- Give Up The Funk(Tear The Roof Off The Sucker) {1975)...A bona fide funk classic. Another song that I can't ignore or resist when I hear it on the radio, no matter how many times I hear it. P-FUNK had many anthems, but this may be their most popular one. Who can sit still when Bootsy is off in the cut riffing on bass like he does on this one. Earth Wind And Fire-After The Love Has Gone{1979)...Another true classic. This song just really grabs you in the heart. Never get tired of this one as well. Philip Bailey's great falsetto on the chorus is just one of many superior highlights of this song. I remember back in the fall and winter of 79' when this song was hot on the radio. RADIO STATIONS was kicking hard in the 70's..even by 1979. It was great hearing this song sandwiched between Patrice Rushen's "Forget Me Nots" and Angela Bofill's "I Try" in the fall/winter of 79'. This EWF classic is one of the many reasons the 70's went out with a great BANG! Michael Jackson-Don't Stop Til You Get Enough(1979)...Once again we're in 1979 and this song just dominated airwaves...back then. From a time when Mike was in the news for his GREAT music than scandals. I used to think to myself are these DJ's gonna play anything else besides this track. But everytime they play it..me and my sisters would turn it up and do the latest dance of that day which was a dance called The Rock... But still this song is a winner...from Mike's spoken intro at the begining of the song all the way til the end as the song fades out. Still sounds good on the radio...Quincy And Mike created a timeless masterpiece with this one. One Way-Cutie Pie{1982)...Again...I never get tired of hearing this old school electro-funk gem. This song still hits hard despite being played a million times. If I catch this one near the end, I still have to finish listening to it until it finishes and they play another song. Here are a few more Michael Jackson-Billie Jean{1982) Ray Goodman And Brown-Got To Be A Special Lady{1979} Brandy- I Wanna Be Down(1994) What songs you still LOOOVE no matter how many times you've heard them on the radio? ha, you lucky US Americans.. over here in Austria/Europe U can just DREAM of catching those tunes U listed on the radio (exept for Billie Jean maybe)
actually we don't even have ONE terrestric R&B/Soul/Funk/HipHop/Jazz/Blackmusic or whateva station around here I just happen to tune in 2 sattellite radio every now and then. so I would surely b the last 2 complain if I catch a song I like/liked on the airwaves...but actually I stopped listening 2 radio a looong time ago (I guess that was when I got my first car CD changer...) Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

classic songs I never get tired of hearing.
*** "Wishing On A Star" by Rose Royce (1977) ---I saw them in concert a few years ago,and can you believe that they DIDN'T even do this song?? I was more than a little disappointed...lol *** "A Love Of Your Own" by Average White Band (1976) ---this song is a Quiet Storm staple and rightfully so. *** "Tempted" by Squeeze (1981) ---oh man,you guys have no clue how much I love this song! *** "When Doves Cry" by Prince (1984) ---how many of you remember this song? It's by some dude named Prince

I never get tired of hearing Naughty by Nature's "O.P.P." or Black Sheep's "The Choice Is Yours."
I guess there are lots of classics I could mention, but if I wanted to hear them I'm just bust out the CD (or cassette).

Brother 9/15 [This message was edited Fri Jan 30 7:15:11 PST 2004 by BRO915] Not only that, I can't stand when radio stations cut the song off. You know there's 15 seconds left, but they decide to jump in with a traffic update, or commercials. It makes me mad sometimes. But I must admit that I'm tired of hearing "September"- EW&F, "Hungry Like A Wolf"- D2...love the groups but those aren't the only songs they ever released...memo to radio stations. Songs I never get tired of hearing: Genius of Love- Tom Tom Club It's My Life - Talk Talk Flowers - The Emotions Outstanding - The Gap Band I Would Die 4 U - Prince Beat It - Michael J. Hotel California - The Eagles Dreams & Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac hmmm...there's tons more but I'm blanking. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

For me personally, I'm gonna add a couple that were in the vein of the original post:
'What You Won't Do For Love' - Bobby Caldwell Many have covered it, but none match the original. This song has me singing along every single time I hear it. 'Computer Love' - Roger and Zapp A stroke of genius that Roger Troutman included Charlie Wilson in the vocals for this song. It just set it off and I never get tired of hearing it.

Here's afew,,,
1.Ain't Nobody-Chaka Khan:U best believe that I was rocking that driver's chair like its a horse when I heard that ol' joint while driving last night. 2.Imaginary Playmates-Rene & Angela:This is one of the ULTIMATE love making songs from the 80's IMO. Angela Winbush neva do wrong 4 me, she sounds lil' bit of Chaka, ReRe, Tina & Sarah all at once YET she blend their influences with her OWN sound. I love her 2 death! 3.Look Out!-Patrice Rushen:This is from her most underrated 1980 album "Posh!". The production is the closest to PERFECT, the vocal harmonies are the bomb, the lyrics are uplifting and not 2 mention homegirl is rocking the bass in that joint. 4.Touch A 4 Leaf Clover-Atlantic Starr:Eryka Badu introduced me 2 their version when she covered it in her debut winner "Baduism" but when I hear Sharon Bryant(Atlantic Starr's 1st leading singer) I was hypnotized 4 good. Its a shame that she's working as a background singer, she deserves waaay MUCH betta than that mess. 5.Flying Away-Donny Hathaway: This FLAWLESS # is from his winner "Extensions Of A Man". I love the fact that he did it all by himself, he composed it, he arranged it and conducted it. I couldn't imagine anybody who doesn't dig this? Its the MOST beautiful song he ever made,,,EVER! 6.If I Don't Love U This Way-Jacksons 5: I remember hearing this song SINCE 4ever,,how could I go wrong with it? 7.I Can't Get My Eyes Off You-Lauryn Hill:,,truely NUFF SAID! Thats all I could think of right now! [This message was edited Fri Jan 30 12:03:56 PST 2004 by Harlepolis]

. I never get tired of this song either--they can play it 24/7 and it would be fine with me "Climb in my fur."

Forget about that one!!! I LOOOVE that jam, especially the long version. Sometimes radio stations cut that song short, they'll cut that song off near the end before the instrumental break. I dislike that greatly.

"Shaft"/Isaac Hayes
"Dazz" (album version WITH flute solo)/Brick "It's Too Late"/Carole King "Hello, It's Me"/Todd Rundgren "Stone Free"/Jimi Hendrix "Josie"/Steely Dan "Le Freak"/Chic "Just You And Me"/Chicago "The Time Of The Season"/The Zombies "Summer"/War "Slipping Into Darkness"/War "Let's Do It Again"/Staple Singers º Actually, that last one I never hear on the radio (the rare times I have the patience to listen), I just never get sick of it.
