"Love Me For A Little While"

::dancin::

I've been listening to the mp3 for about an hour now!

I love the new direction she's taking. It's a departure from the typical R&B-oriented first single. The snow is melting around me. It feels like spring is a day away.

Baby, I like it when it feels this good
You always seem to make me smile
Can’t nobody do what you do
When you love me just a little while

I, I know you got somewhere to go
And I got somewhere to be right now
I think I’d wait all day long
If you wanna get a little wild

I don’t want to be a distraction to you (no, no, no)
So maybe I’ll just lay around, playin’ by myself
Or touchin’ all my favorite fruit (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)

Chorus:
I can’t stop thinkin’ bout the things we do
Or how it feels makin’ love to you
I’m ready to get it baby if you’ve got it to dish out
Just love me for a little while
I wanna make it like a dream for you
And turn every fantasy into the truth
You know I’ll take it anywhere that you wanna go right now (right now)
Just to love you for a little while

I, I like sleeping in your clothes
To smell you makes it all come down
When I think about me and you
Sometimes I get a little loud
Baby, I know we did it all night long
And I didn’t wanna burn you out
Cause you know how much I like to …
In the mornin’ it’s another round

I don’t know if you have other things to do (no, no, no)
So maybe I’ll just lay around, playin’ by myself
Or touchin’ all my favorite fruit (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)

Chorus

My passion flows like a river that has no end
I wanna know everything you’ll let me do to you (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)

Tell me what you like baby (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
Do you wanna play with my strawberry? (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
Sometimes when I think about me and you (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
I can get real loud (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)

Chorus

Just love me (Just love me for a little while)
I’ll take you anywhere you want (Just love me for a little while)
Make my juices flow (Just love me for a little while)
Tell me everything you’ll let me do you (Just love me for a little while)

::laughing::: I'm lovin' it.

Thank you, Janet.

smile

i love this song! it is a breath of fresh air (as far as janet is concerned, i mean). i'm so glad she is venturing out with different sounds. i definitely hear some when you were mine style sounds in there but mostly i hear 80's girl band stuff...the bangles, go-go's. i really don'thear the avril lavigne comparisons but maybe because i recognize those earlier girls instead. there also seems to be a faint reminder of mid eighties blondie...or, rather, solo debbie harry.

yeah, this song has been playing for a while on my stereo!

K, I didn't get to download this track yesterday, but I just heard it on the radio this morning...now, granted it was early and my brain was freezing as I tried to 'warm-up' my car (another -18F morning in Mpls) but I REALLY enjoyed the song! It sounds different than her recent work and was just very HAPPY...I'm hoping my enjoyment of the song grows as I hear it more!

Thanks but I have heard most of it on the radio today. Whoever said that it sounded a bit like "When You Were Mine" is right on the money. It has that pop kind of feel to it. It's a nice fun song but I would say it is in the lower half of Janet songs (and by that I mean the lower half of "Conrtol" and after since I'm not very family with the first two albums). It just doesn't catch me but strangely neither did "All For You" and that is my jam so we'll see. I look forward to the album and can't wait to her some Euro dance music from Janet. Hot!

Before the LMFALW-detractors get their respective undergarments in a bunch, wait until the video is dropped and the R&B remix hits. Janet knows where she's gonna take us with her project. Personally, I'm waiting for Rauhofer's club mix. Right now, I'm jamming this song and "Megamix '04 (Hard Cox Mega Dub)." I'm already hearing good news about the R&B mix from kids that have the vinyl promo (have yet to hear it though). Go 'head, Janet.

Yeah your right, perhaps i'll be feeling the RnB mixes more. it seems a strange choice for the first single though, usually the first sets the scene for the whole album ...
i heard that Gill is cheographing (sp?) now taking over from Shawnette, Im hoping Tina Landon will come back again soon.

From what I've gathered in interviews and testimonials, Janet and Tina had a falling out. I believe Tina was the no-gooder lambasted in "You Ain't Right" and was partially implicated on "Son Of A Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)." I don't see them working together any time soon.

The Euro-dance reference has gotten me thinking. "Together Again" still gets played in the clubs (and on radio) to this day and it was released over 7 years ago -- wow, time flies. I think "Together Again" is one of the crowd dance favorites from the 90s and will be remembered when DJs spin 90s retrospective sets. I hope Janet makes more classic dance material with this studio outting.

To me, Rauhofer is just another detractor to this project. His mixes are monotonous and boring. His formula is "take a pinch of tribal beats, add a lot of washed out vocals and make the overall result sound REALLY, REALLY muddy."

It tells you something that when Madonna is really invested in making a maxi-single work (What It Feels Like For A Girl, Music), she contracts multiple remixers, each with their own style, producing some classic remixes in the process. When she doesn't really give a shit (Nothing Fails, American Life maxis), she hires Rauhofer.

LOL! It never fails, Madonna's name seems to always come up in a Janet thread. Why the constant comparisons? Can't the two ladies stand alone? I feel like Madonna's the boogiemonster, she's always mentioned somehow when someone talks about Janet! It's corny and annoying.

P.S.: Since Madonna's the "Grand Calculator," why would she pay Rauhofer loads of money to knowingly make a (as you say) "sh*tty" remix? Isn't that a tad bit counterproductive?

Oh, god, we're delineating into Madonna discussions on a Janet thread again! :-X

As far as Rauhofer, his mixes were hot to me last year. I was feeling his remixes of Whitney's "Love That Man," Funky Green Dogs' "Rise Up," Aguilera's "Beautiful," Amuka's "Appreciate Me," etc. The man is a little repetitive, but he gives the circuit boys what they want. If the KY jelly's slick enough why switch to Vaseline? razz I'm on a roll tonight. Sorry, folks.

Lol, my main point wasn't about Madonna, it was about Rauhofer and the quality (or lack thereof) of his remixes. Respond to that. I was not comparing Madonna to Janet.

Note: Lol, Madonna makes mistakes just like every megastar out there. I don't consider her the litmus test (or "Grand Calculator") for anything. She's done things that are quite stupid in her career, and using Rauhofer on remixes might be one of them (I've hated the mixes he's done for her so far).

I did like his mix of "Beautiful", but I feel that he relies way too much on his formula to be interesting. There are remixers out there who try different things every now and then. He won't be able to liven up "Love Me For A Little While" for me.

I'm looking forward to hearing the R&B Mix, though. I don't find the pop mix very enticing or sexy (the lyrics don't really mesh with the music). Every time I hear it, I think "if Janet starred in a Mentos commercial ca. 1983...". It sounds like that. A bad 80s musical. Or maybe something you'd hear at the circus. But a remix could really hit it out of the park for me. Give it some meat.

You know what would be hot: I would love to hear a dark remix of a Janet song a la Scumfrog. He did wonders for Monica's "So Gone" single last year. That was a massive hit nationwide. I was killing that song last year. Janet & Scumfrog should collaborate on a dance remix, definitely. Maybe, she should shop around for some DJs trying to make a name for themselves. She has the star power, they have the hunger, that'll make a big hit for both parties. Rauhofer's in a comfort zone just like a lot of big name producers in the peak of their commercial powers (look @ the Neptunes commercially...same thing happened with Timbaland a few years back...same thing happened with Thunderpuss, etc.)

oh gosh, the interviews i saw hinted at a falling out but i didnt think it was that harsh i was just thinking its funny janet didnt make a real fuss with tinas leaving which was strange cos they seemed so close, i know tina said she wanted to move on as she'd been working with janet for too long etc but personal reasons aside though tina was great compared to shawnette, every janet fan i know wants them to hook back up cos janets dance routines have gone way down. maybe Gil will do a god job though

I downloaded it off of suomynona's site! typing http://www.prince.org/msg/8/78540

I'm likin' it. This song is so much fun!

I end up singing "touchin' all my favorite fruit frooh, frooh, ooh"

I don't think anyone expected to hear electric guitar on a Janet track like this. guitar

The ending sounds a bit ernest and like a jingle to me (someone fucked me up with their Mentos comment lol) but this song is jammin'.

Janet's used electric guitar in a bunch of her songs, most notably "If", "Black Cat", and "Trust a Try". This song is sooo not what I expected, and right now I'm not sure what to think. I'm still in Janet Shock Mode, and I can't believe the album is actually on it's way. The song's growing on me more and more each time I listen to it. It's the summer song of Winter, 2004!
