Del Amitri - a welcome rediscovery

Del Amitri. What a fantastic band. Have just rediscovered their albums languishing in my collection.

Great songs like:
Nothing ever happens
Kiss this thing goodbye
Always the last to know
Be my downfall
Just like a man

Anyone else here like (or even heard of) them?

Yes, heard of them, like them, have two of their albums.

The first one (I think - the one with Nothing ever happens on it), and Some Other Sucker's Parade - which I just listened to last week - great album, great band.

I haven't followed their progress in recent years though. Are they still around, any news on them ?
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

I would rate "Always The Last To Know" in my top 100 songs, even though I don't necessarily like their other stuff . . .

I always thought Don't Come Home Too Soon was a great song, even out of the World Cup '98 context...

The above-mentioned songs are all my fav's from this brilliant band. Justin Currie has strong vocals and a unique approach to his music.

bow thumbs up!

"Driving With The Brakes On" has to be one of my all time favourite songs.

I don't know what their situation is these days. They're not exactly teeny-bop fodder are they so have probably been dropped from their record label or just gone their own separate ways.

It's a shame when the kids of today (how old do I sound!?) think that Busted are IT when it comes to "clever" guitar based pop/rock. If only the industry would raise it's standards...

Del Amitri : decent tunes & clever, thoughtful lyrics

Thanks for the reminder on this band, guys. I went to Amazon.com and listened to some samples, and then bought their greatest hits album. Looking forward to it!

I remember seeing the video for "Roll To Me" (which was horrible even though the song was good) which was about 1992? How long had these guys been around at that point? Had they had any other hits?
