korn, opinions

I was very late actually hearing this band. I was just recently given Issues and the first five tracks from Follow the Leader.
I have noticed People either love or despise Korn. I am one of the very few (I know) who don't mind them but don't love them. A lot of the guitar work is very simple yet it's catchy none the less. I do really enjoy JD's vocals, somehow he always makes them fresh without changing much. I don't like how the lyrics are all the similar. I think that shows JD has an agenda, he has a vision for this band that is set. That irritates me. The liitle atmospheric effects are cool. JD seems ambitious in that Issues seemed almost like a concept album, many of songs followed on each other and there is a definite beggining and end.
I was excited to hear the new single cause it's not really new metal, which apparently they are departing a bit from.

Also what happened to JD? When and why did he put on so much weight? I heard he recently quit drinking for good, is it coming off? Anyone seen them live?

I really dig Korn... I got in to them about 5 years ago when Freak on a leash dropped... I get in to a song if it has great drumming, and that track has great drumming... since then I have gone back and found little gems like ADIDAS and so forth... dig them and Disturbed...

Do you think the importance they place on their drumming comes from Grunge? I haven't heard anything before Leader. What's are the best early songs?
Oh yeah why'd Jon get fat? Ever seen them live?

Korn is an awesome band. I think they're even better live, I've seen them twice so far and will definitely catch them next time they tour. When they play Blind, the crowd goes fuckin nuts. They're last album was pretty hot too. Right Now is definitely one of their best songs and has some of the heaviest shit I've ever heard.

because JD is a pathetic 'everything sucks and I wanna kill myself'-Kurt Cobain-wannabe! Meanwhile he rides the bandwagon, drinks untils his waist is fatter than fat and earns millions! I put them on the same shelf as Marilyn Manson, he too is a poser but at least it is theatrical!

Fuck teenangst, people! These guys aren't about that anymore for a long time, it's all about the money and the porn!
'Take A Look in The Mirror' is proof of it: a pathetic piece of shit!

AS for JD, well, he's got problems and honestly I'm sick of listening to whiny rock so I dont' really listen to Korn much anymore but they were good in their day!

JD is a talented dude, and the rest of the band is great. If you've ever been to a Korn show, you'd know what power they still have amongst their fans. They can still pack 'em in and they can still blow the roof off the building. Regardless of what you may think of their music, you can't deny their influence and staying power.

Manson is an artist indeed. In fact, he's a true artist cuz he's always reinventing himself and coming with new and creative shit every time. He's very much about the art of music and show.

It was their best, but each album had their moments.

At the very start they were pretty darn cool, but since
then they went facedown quickly imo.
