Album of the year 2004! What is this year's Outkast 'Speakerboxxx/The Love Below'?
Surely, it has to be Amp Fiddler 'Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly'. Not only is it shit hot, he's also played with Prince! I rest my case. "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

I dunno. I know it's early but, damn, that Amp Fiddler has made a good case. Really. Certainly the first bonna fide classic of the year. I know I'll be playing it this time next year. You haven't even listened to Morrissey's new album yet. I think it's kinda early to make that sort of judgement.
Another thing, Outkast's masterpiece came out last year and should be the album of 2003. They're gonna take over the Grammy's just wait and see. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Er, that's what I was saying. 2003 belonged to Outkast. I really think Amp Fiddler has made a timeless classic and if anyone can do better than that this year - GREAT! If not, so what? It's a fucking fantastic album and it makes me squirm with delight. "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

Defintley an all-time classic but I think Outkast won by a whisker. 2004 - the gauntlet has been laid down. Can anyone beat Amp Fiddler? "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

He's played with George Clinton for years (you can hear him on "We Can Funk" off the "Graffiti Bridge" album. He's a keyboard player/singer/producer. As well as being inspired by classic & nu soul, he's also worked with some of his home city of Detroit's finest techno producers. Think D'Angelo with the best beats. Check his website http://www.ampfiddler.com and check this great interview Alive.co.uk Interview Hope this helps! daned-
on spot! as usual George Clinton thanks Mr. Fiddler and makes an appearance on the album (before he got busted in Fla. for hittin the pipe) another Prince connection: detroit super-producer Jay Dee (J Dilla) is on the album. Jay worked on Common's joint 'Star *69 (PS With Love)' that Prince also funked in on a truly-funkbeauty all around. -peaceternal

"This is not just a man who's absorbed black musical history. He is, basically, black music Personified. An entire page couldn't do this album justice. Absolutely untouchable." - Pete McIntire, IDJ
"Like OutKast or D'Angelo, Amp Fiddler is pushing soul forwards, and 'Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly' is perfect Sunday listening for 2004" - NME "Impossibly cool" - THE GUARDIAN "The arrival of Mr Fiddler last year with his two EP's heralded the arrival of a new, alternative black hero...melding the grooves and rhythms of his friend Moodyman with great songs. There are echoes of Sly Stone and Prince, for sure, but what makes 'Waltz...' different is the funk" - JOCKEY SLUT "Long awaited is a term that is often over used when describing the imminent release from a much hyped or lauded artist. In the case of Amp Fiddler, the term couldn't be more pertinent and the Detroit native doesn't disappoint either with an album that traverses the upper echelons of the soul groove while still maintaining a raw edge...it would be true to say that all tracks on 'Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly' are steeped in the heartfelt traditions of the finest and most timeless soul music, ensuring that this is an LP that you'll be playing for years to come." - STRAIGHT NO CHASER "Sounding like an instant classic" - MUSIC WEEK Looks like all the UK press are fond of this record! Oh, and the UK tour dates have been changed:- 14 Feb Fez Club Sheffield 15 Feb Band on the Wall Manchester 27 Feb Jazz Café, London 28 Feb Jazz Café, London 26 Feb Fiddlers, Bristol [TBC] Anyone else coming to Band On The Wall? yeah,
you fellow state-siders... The new Amp Fiddler album will not be out here in the states until March. January 26th is the UK release date for the CD, so you can pick up an import version...or wait for the domestic version and pick up: The Detroit Experiment album in the meantime! this is my pick for 2003 Album Of The Year ('yeah, we care') if you have not nabbed this album up yet, please do yourself a favor and check it out. Amp Fiddler is allover the release. just check the on-spot cover version of Stevie's 'Too High' and you will be sold. The Detroit Experiment is produced by Detroit Techno legend, Carl Craig and includes such heavy players from The D as: Marcus Belgrave, Regina Carter, Invincible, Karriem Riggins, Geri Allen, Jeremy Ellis (Ayro), Francisco Mora Catlett & AmpFiddlerAmpFiddlerAmpFiddler!!! cant forget about him. this is not nu-jazz, techno-jazz, future-jazz. it is straight up jazz. straight up beautiful. straight up essential! *** get a taste @ http://www.ropeadope.com where they have a FREE stream of the entire album. just look under records *** -peaceternal

What? Bark Psychosis have got back together? I thought they split for good back in 1997? Mind you, it would make sense. Boymarang was good but d 'n' b has lost it's edge a bit and I do hear the influence of Bark Psychosis both in todays's post-rock bands and in the top 40 with bands like Elbow. Is this for real? Are they together again or are you just shitting me? "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

I can honestly say that speakerboxxx is just a tag-olong with Love Below.. everyone knows Hey Ya sold that album and there isnt gonna be another song off that album thats will be a bigger hit than Hey Ya As far as big boi's disk, It may be an excellent album, but I dont think it would do much if it wasnt for their decision to combine, which I thought was brilliant.
