College Radio

Does anyone here find some college radio stations to have DJs that are self-righteous and pretentious?

You have the granola, self-serving, psuedo-bohemians playing underground hip hop (nerd rap), sparse acoustic rock and the like. They tend to hate R&B and anything with a groove. One station in particular, WCBN-FM 88.3 gets on my f**king nerves. The program directors there are pricks who think an "alternative to commercial radio" is playing any old bullsh*t no one wants to listen to.

Can't speak for all stations, but the station at my university is trash.

Lol, yeah, I hate that bullshit theory most college radio DJ's have: "If more than 10 people like this record, it must suck and I won't play it because it's now 'mainstream'."

I hear you! And you know I hear you becuase I live in Ann Arbor. I really never listen to it but they do think they are above it all.

That's kind of the problem. Mainstream kind of sucks sometimes (if I hear FabulousChingyCent one more time...) but the stuff they play is rarely better. Have you ever heard 90.9 FM, the Detroit Public Schools station? They play old school sometimes. And as you might note, they seem to play Janet's "The Knowledge" every weekday at 2, and sometimes I hear it at other times on there.
