It's decent, but in my opinion, very overrated.

Ok, now it's time for my thirty lashes. go ahead everyone.

If you like that get "pray my soul".Eddie Hazel was the main guitarist for p-funk.There are 2 versions of "pray my soul".One is instrumental and just beautiful. The other is the instrumental w/a poem read over it about Eddie since he died a few years back.

Oh. I thought this thread was going to be about C.C. DeVille in Poison's "Talk Dirty to Me", lol.

Welcome to enlightenment. Many will try to dispute your discovery, but fear not for you have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe and
you were not offended
For you knew you had to rise above it all
Or drown in your own shit.

The live version is best.

Just started to listen to P Funk, beside the main songs everyone knows. I must say, there is so much to listen to, I might have to dedicate a whole month to all the cd's someone let me borrow.

I read that right before he recorded he studio version of "Maggot Brain" Hazel's instructions from George Clinton were to drop some acid and play as if someone had just told him his mother were dead.

If you liked that you might like "good thoughts bad thoughts" I think it's off of "Standing on the verge of getting it on"

Though he may not get much credit for it, I think He spawned one of the most overdone forms of guitar rock.

I'll spare the thirty lashes. smile

Enjoy the adventure! thumbs up!

About the live Maggot Brain on One Nation:
1) It's available on the latest Charly cd reissue, maybe also on others I don't know.
2) I'm pretty sure that this version features Mike Hampton on lead guitar.
3) I love them both
4) But not as much as Get Off Your Ass and Jam.
