OK...Who else thinks Britney's "Toxic" sounds like "Under the Influence" era Vanity??

As much as I don't want to admit it, I reeeaaallly love this song. And recently I was trying to figure out why, when it dawned on me that it reminded me of sumthin'. The bridge and the chorus of the song is sooo Vanity (esp. Under the Influence, that type of singin'). Anyone else hear the similarity or is it time for me to up the dose on my antipsychotics??? nutty

(It's not as obvious as "Slave 4 U" sounding like Vanity 6, but still, there's something makin' me dig this song!)

"Slave For You" (or whatever it was called) was nothing but a rip-off of "Nasty Girl", so I'm not really surprised.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

YEP! If Prince ain't gonna sound like Prince anymore than at least someone will, thank God. And hey, give the girl (or anyone else who tries to sound like him) credit for having good taste. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?

The song is actually a direct copy of an earlier song (by the same songwriter, Cathy Dennis) "Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex", a British #2 hit for Rachel Stevens earlier this year (and a better song than "Toxic"). You're allowed to plagiarize yourself, I guess.

it certainly has a prince-ish feel to it. Of course I only heard a few seconds of the song on TRL but I wasn't hating it like me against the music. Now that song was complete trash but toxic has promise.

*bows head in shame* I kinda like this song.
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

lovebizzare

well this song makes it a grand total of 3 songs that I LOVE (yes, I said 'love') by Britney (the other two being "sometimes" and "boys")

Vocally, it's very reminicent of Vanity (in her better vocal days I may add)
