Yeah, he's definitely workin' the fraternity row crowd. But, as Anxiety said, at least his crew does play real music, and every so often they crank out something I kinda like.

Dave has some pretty distinctive (either you hate it or love it) singing styles, is a solid guitar player, has a knack for melody, can write some pretty terrific lyrics (I'm currently tripping on "Stay or Leave") and has a wonderfully tight band. To me, the only week link in the DMB is that violinist, Boyd Tinsley. The other 3 (and guitar hero Tim Reynolds) can stay.

So there.

Their music makes me very angry inside. It makes me want to hurt people.

Great band to see live. Even if their music isn't your style, there's no denying that they are amazing musicians.

Agreed. Matthews is the most OVERRATED artist there is!!! I don't get what people see in the guy.

I like his Ben & Jerry's ice cream, though...

OK, I have now come to the conclusion that Garnis is a dick. He's hating on one of the very few original pop stars out there. I said "pop stars" and not artists because there are many great atists out there. But how many of them are pop stars now? given that most pop music is garbage, Dave Matthews brings in a breath of fresh air.


Or at least that wsa what I used to think. I mean, when they came out in 1995 I loved them. They sounded like nothing else at the time. Who would've thought that a Bohemian, Jazz & Folk-inspired jam band would be a success? I guess that was the cool thing. But I will admit that now they're just sounding a bit repetitive now. But you can't deny that they still have some of their integrity left.


Oh yeah, and Garnis, please stop hating on a true a rtist and stop being a dick in the process.
