Spirit of India: A Pure Selection of Electronic Vibes

I was at HMV last year sometime and I saw this CD that I thought I would get for my parents. The title of the CD is, "Spirit of India: A Pure Selection of Electronic Vibes". I wasn't into Indian music. I listened to it with my mom and dad and they didn't like it. I liked it. The music is really good. It is available through http://www.amazon.com for anybody who is interested in hearing something that blends Eastern and Western styles. There is a number of different musical styles ranging from Hip-Hop, Funk, Trance and Dance. One of my favourite tracks is "Same Beat", which is James Brown inspired beat, with a hint of Indian influence with a cool sitar.

Here is an Editorial write up of the CD from amazon.com:

The Cover Art Looks Like It's Straight Outta Bollywood, but the Music Within Quite Simply, Otherworldly. Some of the Best Tracks in the World from Major Dance and Trance Artists Are Assembled on this Double Disc Wonder: Nitin Sawhney, Thievery Corporation, Transglobal Underground, Natacha Atlas, Telepopmusik, Asian Dub Foundation, Robert Miles, Jah Wobble and Many More. The Feel of the Tracks is Western in Nature with Flourishes of the Orient Distinctly at the Base. Drums and Beats Abound of all Varieties. The Flow of this Set is Very Similar to the First Volume of "Buddha Bar" and the Caliber of the Material Presented is Just as Good. Whether You're in the Mood for a Chillout Or Getaway, Party Or Dinner, Or Just Need Some Great Music to Put on the Disc Player, this Collection Wonderfully Fits the Bill.

Enjoy. smile

319, I don't know where you can hear any of these samples, but you could probably download this double disc set from the net.

If you want, you can send me an org note with your address and I can send you a copy if you'd like. Just bear with me though because of the holiday season, it might take a bit longer.
