Lets talk Talk Talk

In light of No Doubt's horrible version of Its My Life, I think we should give these guys the recognition they deserve. Their last 3 albums stand as three of the best albums ever recorded. Making them one hell of an innovative group. Where would music be without them??

I think the cover version is better than the original, primarily because of Gwen Stefani's voice. Who agrees with me? It's not as if they changed the arrangements much, so how can you hate one and love the other?

Talk Talk was a good post-punk new wave band, but not a defining one. Music would not be any different without them, IMHO. There were lots of other similar bands (esp. The Comsat Angels, who are also underappreciated). That's not to say they aren't good, they just aren't legendary.

Phew. Finally someone who is NOT saying what a great version No Doubt have released. It's nowhere close to the subtlety in Talk Talk's recordings.

Apart from that, there's hardly any real emotion/soul in Gwen's voice. It's based on pure coquetry.

A big thank you to you for this post!

violator

No Doubt's version of this song is average at best. Stefani brings nothing new to her interpretation. Breathy vocals do not equal greatness.

No Doubt's version rocks. The original has a murky Tears for Fears sorta sound to it.
