Name Your 3 Best ...

ONE HIT WONDERS!

Those artists that may have released more than 1 single but will only ever be remembered for the ONE song that was an instant classic.

My 3 have to be :

1) Joe Public - Live & Learn
2) A.K.A. - Warning
3) Goodfellas - Suga Honey Ice Tea

Absolute classics!

OK, who's next ?

***"Ring My Bell" by Anita Ward (1979)---yeah,it's a silly, cheesy song but charming nonetheless. And in 1979,it was one of the catchiest jams on the radio.

***"I Need A Freak" by Sexual Harrassment (1983)---became a huge underground club hit. These guys were unabashed Prince clones, but this song was kickin'.

***"Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck (1976)---irresistible pop gem from the mid-70s

Falco -- "Rock Me Amadeus"
Nikki French -- "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" (yes, the original is better, but it's my all-time favorite song, and i'm sorry but i loved the dance version too)

Oy, how dare ya! The Boomtown Rats were not one hit wonders. You're forgetting about Mary of the 4th form, I never loved Eva Braun, Rat Trap, Looking after no. 1, Someone's looking at you, Joey's on the street again, Like clockwork, Banana Republic, Dave...

Amii Stewart had another hit with Light my Fire.

Buggles was Trevor Horn who's had hits under other guises (Art of Noise is the only one that springs to mind). He also had hits as producer/collaborator with FGTH, Dollar, Simple Minds, Spandeau Ballet, Propaganda, ABC, Malcolm McLaren, Pet Shop Boys... the list is endless.

Also, (from other posts) T'pau had hits with China in your hand, Bridge of Spies, Valentine, Sex Talk.

You feel old? - Spare a thought for me, I feel old and very sad, I remember all this useless rubbish but I couldn't tell you what I did yesterday. sad
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Ooh,I'm not entirely sure I'd consider Full Force to be a one-hit wonder boxed

"Alice (I Want You Just For Me)" (1984)
"Unselfish Lover" (1984)
"Temporary Love Thang" (1986)
"Unfaithful" (1986)
"Old Flames Never Die" (1986)
"Love Is For Suckas" (1987)
"All In My Mind" (1987)

And many of the Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam singles featured Full Force,as well.

I didn't know they had any solo hits. I liked the song they did with Samantha Fox, but was there single, called "All I Wanna Do".

And right now my favorite one hit wonder is Cheri's "Murphy's Law" along with D-Train "You're the One For Me", which are both on this great Billboard collection of big dance hits from 1982. I have one from 1983 as well that has a bunch of bigger hits by bigger artists like Donna Summer's "She Works Hard..." and Shannon's "Let the Music Play" but the 1982 one is more fun.

And Trevor Horn did a lot of work on Cher's "It's A Man's World" album and also still works with Seal, prehaps his biggest success story considering the amount of albums.

Samantha Fox had two hits produced by Full Force: "Naughty Girls Need Love Too" and "I Wanna Have Some Fun".In the 80s,Full Force produced songs for many artists...

"Thanks For My Child" by Cheryl Pepsi Riley (1988)
"I'm Real" by James Brown (1988)
"You're Gonna Get Rocked" by LaToya Jackson (1988)
"Why Don't You Come Home" by Ex-Girlfriend (1991)
"Roxanne,Roxanne" by UTFO (1984)

And this is in addition to all of those huge hits by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam,which they usually appeared on...

"I Wonder If I Take You Home" (1985)
"Can You Feel The Beat" (1985)
"All Cried Out" (1985)
"Head To Toe" (1987)
"Lost In Emotion" (1987)
"Someone To Love Me For Me" (1987)
"Everything Will B-Fine" (1987)
"Little Jackie Wants To Be A Star" (1989)
"Just Get It Together" (1989)
"Kiss Away Your Tears" (1989)

And they recorded several albums of their own,the best being 1987's 'Guess Who's Comin' To The Crib?' album.

Right. Full Force was one of the best teams in the eighties (they had a few boy band hits in the late ninties too, but seem to be gone again) They had a bunch of good tracks with Sam, including those big hits of hers but "All I Wanna Do" was there single and she was featured on it. Does anyone know this one? I downloaded it. Wonder if it was a hit or not.
