Your Opinion on Justin Timberlake

I love the Justified album, and he's a great performer, but I feel like he kinda held back on a lot of the songs on the album. I think he has great, catchy songs, but some of them kinda seem stifled, like he didn't really put a lot of himself into it. All in all though, for a debut solo album, I think it's promising that he could have a long career as an entertainer.

I don't know about his long-term future, but I enjoyed his debut album, to my complete surprise. It is quite derivative, yes (of Michael and Janet's past LPs), but still enjoyable. I'll buy his stuff in the future.

He's the most talented singer to come out of the most talented boy band. He's definitely got a soulful voice an soul/pop appeal. "Rock You Body" is (believe it or not) one of the few Neptunes productions that I liked.

He's still gay though. lol

I think Justin is awesome. And you can tell he LOVES music and that he respects everything about it. He's always a perfect gentlemen to other artists and the boy can sing. The Justified album for me today is what my Off the Wall 8-track was to me back in the day.

I have his solo album, and I liked it from start to finish.
The boyband thing is what hurts him, no matter what people'll always say he sucks or aiming to be the next michale jackson or something like that.
Truth is he does have talent and could be here for awhile.

A credibility obsesed twat of the highest order who changes his statements and supposed influences whether true or not just to get that further bit of media "cool" going about him. Won't last more than 3 albums IMO. That new McDonalds song is pooooo.

The media portrayal of his "talent" is highly exaggerated. His voice is good but not strong. His live singing leaves a LOT to be desired, especially that hideous falsetto (I don't think Prince has anything to be worried about).

i think JC from NSync was more talented vocally and better looking than JT. His so lo album was only good because of Timbalnd & neptuness...i mean who's not gonna buy an album with those hot producers in them? Otherwise he couldnt do it alone, or even with Max Martin..lol.

He suffers the white boy wanna be soul thing...

2nd of all he seems somewhat cocky and stuck up on camera on some events i have seen.

they BOTH suffer from that "white boy wanna-be" thing
JC does have an edge over Justin, but they're both good, and will both be hated because they're from a boyband
Justin is NOT cocky by any means, quite down to earth, actually.

Oh he surely is. Hada friend who used to like him and went to his concert. About 12 people were waiting outside his hotel afterwards before he left to go to all these after parties. The guy would not even stop for an autograph or a hello. Now that's just rude, especially when there are so few people about, it's not like he was in danger of being mobbed. He has an entourage to rival J'Lo's and it's just not needed.

Timberlake pisses me off. His music's ok at best, but nothin to write home about. I agree with whoever said earlier that the quality of his album is such only b/c of Timbaland and the Neptunes. Cuz if he tried it on his own...barf

I find it interesting that both "cute, innocent blondes" from the top 2 boybands (*N SYNC and Backstreet Boys) released their solo debuts approx. the same time. The two albums definitely have different sounds, though they are about equal in terms of quality. So why did Timberlake get all the press while Carter got relatively little? Is it because BSB had been sliding for some time? (due to marriages and rehab) A lot of people say this, but I'm not so sure. One of the *N SYNCer's (Joey maybe?) had a kid, and they weren't exactly high in the spotlight at the time either. So what's up?

Equal in terms of quality??? Nick's album was crap, it didn't even have anything worthy of a single on it.

well regardless of what folks are saying, its been reported that Justin brangs it live on his late night after shows..he may be pop for th e lil girls but in his after shows he breaks it down and proves himself. Not saying that he is th ebe all to end all but even some of them others who deserve it arent that great anyways either. YOu cant deny he rocked Rock Your Body, Senorita, or Cry Me A River. Sure Neptunes helped but it aint like others are writing their own shit half the time either.

Yes! I've seen him on tour, and I've also seen his aftershow at a small venue in Philly, and they were both awesome, but the aftershow really showed what a great performer he is. He really got into the music and really did prove himself, like Rdhull said.

I like the kid...I think he's talented.
I saw some of his concert special last night. He was
soulful, funny, and he actually played an acoustic
guitar. shocked He looked like he was having a great
time on-stage. It was nice to see all that choreography
out-the-window, just some good old-fashioned blue-eyed
soul.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I like Justified and could care less about J.T.'s past, alleged attitude or whatever. We all know J.T. is a product these media companies are packaging but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the music.

As for his attitude, who cares? It's the music that matters and regardless of who produced it-- M.J. didn't produce the music to most of his hits-- Justified is solid. It's got a modern day Off the Wall vibe like somebody said. In fact, I heard some of these songs were offered to M.J. and he didn't take them. Timberlake's just doing what M.J. made his millions doing: choreographed dancing and decent vocals to accompany some good pop tunes. I see people mentioning soul and R&B which it isn't. Neither is M.J's, Janets, or any others you'll hear on the radio stations. This is pure pop and it's catchy and enjoyable, but ultimately disposable.

It's supposed to be fun, not change the world or put us "colored folks" out of the music business-- not a bad thing in my opinion. smile
