alicia keys and her AIDS ad

first, i think its great that she uses her fame to help out on something so important. with that said...

i didn't realize how stupid she sounds when she speaks. so sad that a woman with a voice like that sounds like an idiot when she uses it to talk.

She doesn't sound stupid to me. She sounded very urban and street(the enviornment of which she was raised after all), but certainly not stupid.

no no no! Are you trying to criticize her because of the fact that she is African-American? If so, then that's very wrong an ig'nant of you.

TRON

Her emphasis during the commercial is strange. She's smiling in all the most innapropriate parts.

so, i'm assuming that you must believe there are no other races in urbania besides black americans.

being well spoken is not a black or white or asian or indian (or whatever) thing.

actually, she sounds like she's trying very hard to sound urban and street, and comes off sounding stupid because she can't pull it off.

I don't think he ment it the wrong way!

Anyway, ain't nothing urban or street about Alicia Keys, she came from a middle class home, raised by an actress lol nothing fancy which is true but homegirl haven't tasted the REAL street life.

Thats all "what u see is what u get" act is ALL PHONY & TIRED,,,I've said it b4 and I'ma say it again: Ghetto ppl don't act like that in public, thats all image illusion creared by Clive Daivs to attract young folks.

Actualy Alicia is a very smart young lady and she could hold a very intersting conversation but like I said, she'd rather keep up with that fake ass act.

I personaly don't buy it!

That's sad that she would feel she needs to dumb her self down to sell records. Oh, well.

enjoyniki

Well I went to her private concert last night and she didn't appear to act ghetto/street or whatever... but the lil short dance she had was definitely from the street. What gutter did she find him in? Anyway, she sang "How come u don't call me..." by Prince and she sounded good. In the end they gave props to NPG and I was impressed with that, yet I am sure there were not too many others in there who knew what NPG is.

rolleyes ...To whatever that comment supposed to mean.

There's nothing wrong with how Alicia Keys talks. She talks, sounds like, and expresses herself like a normal person and has a beautiful singing voice. I've seen and heard her portray the hard core image that had me wondering, but that's the least of what's important. She's doing her thing singing anyway and capturing a lot with her music in terms of her developing her own unique style and look that I admire. Matter of fact, I heard her this morning on Hot97, along with another song off her album, and she sounded great. I have the album already and it's among my favorites from a couple I just bought. I'm just glad that she's putting time and effort to do something positive, since it's always better to focus on the positive, rather than the negative especially when we're just watching from the outside.
