Not-So-Simple Life: Little Richie
If you’re wondering why Nicole Richie hasn’t been on IM lately (her AIM moniker is Ballerinagirlm), it’s because she’s been in rehab at Cirque Lodge in Utah. Richie’s reality show with Paris Hilton, The Simple Life (socialites shovel manure; hilarity ensues), debuts December 2, but the 21-year-old daughter of Lionel skipped Fox’s L.A. junket earlier last month and has been refusing any interviews. The show’s publicist has insisted that Richie is “totally unreachable.” Richie was busted for heroin possession last February and released on $10,000 bail. (After her arraignment, Daddy shipped her off to rehab in Sierra Tucson, Arizona, on a private plane.) On October 8, she was sentenced to a “drug-diversion program,” and she has to go back to court for a progress report shortly before the show airs.

At the très swank soiree for The O.C., a seemingly endless stream of reporters, Industry types and mostly Fox costars took turns chatting up the Simple girls. During my interview, Norm Macdonald (starring on the upcoming Fox show A Minute with Stan Hooper) cruised up and (rather forcefully) asked Paris how much money her family makes. After Paris played along for a bit, he turned to Nicole.

Norm: "Isn't Lionel Richie a black guy?"
Paris: "She's black!"
Nicole: "I am black!"
Norm: "You're black?"

Noticeably annoyed, the girls returned to the interview and Paris answered what she missed most during the show. "My cell phone," she sighed. "Other than that, we could bring whatever we wanted. All we wore was high heels and short skirts. We dressed like Barbies the whole time. It was hot. I'm a live Barbie with no boobs."

Now, we're talking! But soon after, as Nicole went on and started lamenting the "dumb crappy bars" of Arkansas, Norm struck again.

Norm: "Did you get in any trouble because you're black?"
Nicole: "No! You're so rude."
Norm: "I thought hillbillies didn't care for black people."
Nicole: "They love me."
Paris: "They love her."
Norm: "Because you're not black!"
Nicole: "Yes, I am black

I remember when she was a little girl, around the time Lionel and his wife Brenda were about to adopt her.

I could be wrong, but i think she is related to Sheila E. At least this is want I remember hearing. Could have been a rumor. Anyone know for sure?

Paris is pretty funny to me! I like her honest,stoner, who cares jokes.. she is such a dork but in a good way
