I've read somewhere he's got five or six new songs done. Now, bearing in mind that there was a five year gap between "Brown Sugar" and "Voodoo", I wouldn't expect anything new from him until 2005. Unfortunately.

Personally I like D'Angelo's music but I am tired of him taking 4 yrs between each project to bring out some new music!

Agreed. In the 70s,artists routinely released new albums with no delays.Stevie Wonder released TWO albums in 1972,one in 1973,one in 1974 and released a double-album with a four-song bonus 45 in 1976,to be followed by yet another groundbreaking 2-record set in 1978.And of course,Prince cranked out a kickass album every year in the 80s. Why are today's artists so lazy and uninspired??

Supposedly in between "Brown Sugar" & "Voodoo" he suffered from writers block. I also heard he is/was in Rehab for what I don't know I haven't been able to find any credible source to solidfy this rumor.

He takes too long... I mean, What could he possibly be working on for what.. 3, 4 years? I mean, if it was just a masterpiece I would say the time was worth it, but the odds are it wont..
lets just hope he doesnt add rappers and all the other product bullshit to try to sell a record..

Today's musicians are all pampered, spoilt, bloated f***ing sissys who spend way too much of their time flaunting their prentend wealth and not enough time f***ing earning it and fair f***ing play to them. I'd like to see you try & knock the f***ing spliff out of their dumb, f***ing faces and tell them the house goes back to the bank unless they deliver an album NOW. The reason the people you mentioned released so many albums was because their album deals were so f***ing shit, that they'd have died if they didn't release an album. Literaly. Now f*** off back to your easy life & grant your f***ing idols a few months tossing off to daytime television without trying to make them feel guilty for being a groveling little wage slave like you. And with promotion and touring the way it is, it takes more than a year to record, package and promote the album anyway much less tour behind it.

Very true. But that's still no excuse for taking five years to make a new album! If the rappers can crank out a new album every year or so,why can't D'Angelo?

It took me a while too, but I love it and listen to it often. It was something different and I think that's what attracted me to it (not to mention the "untitled" video )

I think it's a masterpiece. I hope his next one is as good and as creative too. Who the hell knows when that will be though. He takes way too long to put out new music. I do think he has real talent though!

I'm wondering if he'll be able to better it. But as long as it's smooth and funky I'll be happy.

It will be very hard to top Voodoo, but I'm sure it will be very good. Brown Sugar is excellent, but I think Voodoo was even better, so maybe he will be able to top it. I just wish he would release something new for fuck sake!!

These pampered stars with too much time on their hands, eh?! George Michael being another. He needs to get off of his ass and be more regular with his releases.

He is so talented and has such an amazing voice. I've heard that he will release something new in Feb. or March. Let's hope! He has way too much talent not to be putting out music and I wish he would tour too. He is one person I would love to see live.

Which is simple, cuz thats where they promote their stuff: The Radio! Nowadays, its a NO-NO to release an album without a video, line-up magazinzes with dozens of interviews, promo pix, promo concerts,,,extra and mo' EXTRA money which is abit complicated. Its not the artists you blame, its the label and the middle men!
