Favorite Xmas Albums

My choice would most definitely have to be the legendary Temptation Christmas album on the Motown label. It's a Mutha F**king Classic. I swear Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without that album , Christmas album. No matter how many times you've heard people try remake the song Silent night , I think The temptations had the best version of all time. Nobody can beat their harmonzing, it's truly da bomb. So what are your some of favorite Christmas Albums of all time ?

"Do You Hear What We Hear?" by the refreshingly delicous Kiki & Herb. Their holiday medley entitled "People Die" is always a crowd pleaser at any holiday function, as is Kiki's classic nativity message, "ladies and gentleman, sometimes I feel just like Mary's donkey."

Also, another good one is Rupaul: Ho, Ho, Ho. Very good one, lol! Features songs such as "Rupaul the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus".

Here's what I'll be listening to this hoilday season...

***Natalie Cole 'Holly and Ivy' (1994)---I love Natalie Cole and I could listen to her voice for hours.I just bought her 1994 Christmas CD and it's very, very good.It has a jazzy, elegant feel to it,similiar to her father's holiday album.

***The Whispers 'Happy Holidays To You' (1979)---this is one of my favorites! It's a fun, soulful holiday album. The title track is a classic, and their version of Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" is slow and mesmerizing.Another highlight is the track "A Very Special Holiday".Interestingly,a few tracks even have a late-70s Disco beat...lol

***The Temptations Christmas album (1980)---The Tempts actually recorded two Christmas albums, one in 1970 (I think) and one in 1980.The latter is one of my favs.Their version of "Silent Night" is particularly amazing...slow,soulful and inviting.

They both mix original compositions with all time classics.

I've been told that the best Christmas album ever is

so maybe I'll buy it this year. It's included in the highly recommended Phil Spector's Back to Mono Box Set

I've always wanted to buy that album. So many classics! Loved "Chirstmas In Hollis"! Well they were made classic again by those arists. The Madonna verison of "Santa Baby" gets a whole lot more airplay then the original (by Eartha Kitt, right?). I think I will pick it up tommorow.

I think my favorite Chirstmas album is probably Elvis' "White Christmas", which I think is a collection of at least two Chirstmas albums he did (one early years and one the not so early years).

Wow, I didn't know... nevermind. Anyway, I grew up on Elvis' Christmas Album ("Blue Christmas" is classic) and Brenda Lee's Christmas Album (includes "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"). Today I like Christian Christmas CDs like Wow Christmas and Sparrow Records compilation, 25 Songs of Christmas.
