Chaka and Joni From the Family Jamm website:
Chaka has recorded nine albums and been honored with five Grammy Awards. She's worked with the who's who of the music world, including her dear friend Joni Mitchell... What did these 2 do together? http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

She contributed in Joni Mitchell's "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter" in the songs "The Tenth World" and "Dreamland" which both have african style. Chaka has sang in the background vocals.
Also, Chaka sang "Man From Mars" in her BET Jazz concert which was issued in DVD. And BTW Chaka won 8 grammies not 5! [This message was edited Tue Nov 11 12:59:37 PST 2003 by Harlepolis]

I like Chaka, but have never bought any of her music. I love the couple of songs she does on Quincy Jones "back on the block", but have never ventured any further with her music. Any suggestions you might have to get me started would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sure,,check these for a start: Her solos: -Epiphany:The Best of Chaka Khan, Vol. 1(This and Come 2 My House were the ONES that started me as a fan). Whatcha Gonna Do For Me(This is my FAVE solo album from her,,its pure funk/jazz. Dizzy G. & Herbie Hencock play in that album) When she was with Rufus: -Rufusized(One word:FIRE!) -Rufus Ft Chaka Khan(I love this album becoz it features my FAVE song from Chaka "Fool's Paradise". Clare Fisher showcased his very best in this album and "Ask Rufus". This is feel-good music,,it also has a smocking version of the Bee Gees "Jive Talking"). -Ask Rufus(Also Clare Fisher did one helluva jop doing the strings in here. This album is rather dark and haunting,,,it also has Joni Mitchell's influence in it "Egyption Song". Chaka was going through alot of shit when she made that album. Hollywood is my FAVE song from there). All of them are so cheap except "Whatcha Gonna Do For Me" which is an import CD. Get them fast! I also advice you to check her new book "Chaka!Through The Fire",,,its a good read. Raw honesty and strong sense of humor,,trust me you're gonna love it! Whew there lol hope that helps!
