I just read that Suede will split on their official website and on NME.com.Very bad news because after The Smiths they were one of the very best band to come out of Britain ever in my opinion.I hope that Brett Anderson will still continue to make great music.

that's truly horrible news...I've loved them for years now. I thought their last album was a bit weak, but really enjoyed the new tracks they played at Glastonbury this summer...

"Coming Up" is my favorite Suede Album although I am a fan since their "Animal Nitrate"-Single.I don´t agree that their last two records were weak. OK, they were not as good as the first three albums but there were still some wonderful songs on them which were miles ahead of the crap you get from other bands.
The latest single "Attitude" is quite good and did well on the charts but the "Singles" Compilation sold poorly maybe because most people already have the best songs on "Coming Up" and didn´t feel like buying them again just to get the two new songs.
What I really liked about them was that their singles had really good b-sides and not these stupid remixes you normally get if you buy a single from most other artist.

They were always an overrated retro act in my opinion.

No great loss.

2 be honest I cant say Im that surprised 2 be honest. Its a shame though dont get me wrong cuz I quite liked them plus Ricky Gervais used 2 manage them which is kinda cool.

The reason why I say Im not surprised is cuz the band was always kinda plagued with band member fall outs notoriously between Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler but I think it was always tense between Anderson and Neil Codling too. Personally I think they also kinda run out of idead after Coming Up with its follow up Head Music. I bought Head Music thinking Id like it considering its reviews comparing some of the tracks 2 be kinda Prince-esque plus Anderson was raving about Prince as an artist at the time I seem 2 recall in the music press. Even considering Prince as a musical influence. However, with lyrics like She lives in a house...she's stupid as a mouse it clearly lacked any real imagination (although I thought 'She's in Fashion' was kind of a bright and breezy pop tune).

I guess U could even trace their downfall 2 Bernard Butler's departure in that he was in the band when they recorded their most critically acclaimed and 2 be honest best albums, Suede and Dog Man Star which they sadly failed 2 emulate.

Suede were fantastic, are superb live, and will be missed. Rumours are that Bernard Butler may perform at the last ever gig, but I'm not sure. That would be cool though
