I ADORE "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai. Is the rest of the album of similar ilk? What do you think of Chic and Cameo? I'm thinking of getting into them as well.

"Canned Heat" is the most Disco-sounding track on the album, but there are much better tracks."Planet Home" and "Where Do We Go From Here" are extremely FUNKY jams with killer grooves. You'll think you are back in the 70s when you hear them! There is also a kickass slow jam "Falling".I bet you will also like "Supersonic",which became a club hit in some areas.

Chic and Cameo are two of the best R&B/funk bands of all-time! We'll have to start another thread on them smile

How about I qualify it in two ways:

1. I list my faves, not necessarily the greatest of all, just the ones I would consider to be great; and

2. I just list them regardless of decade?

Blowout Comb, Digable Planets
Nevermind, Nirvana
Off The Wall, Michael Jackson
Aja. Steely Dan
It Takes A Nation of Millions . . ., Public Enemy
The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, Gil Scott-Heron
Passion, Peter Gabriel
In Between, Jazzanova
Bitter, Me'Shell Ndegeocello
Lovesexy, Prince
Regatta D'Blanc, The Police
Songs In The Key of Life, Stevie Wonder

I'm going to buy these soon.

And you will LOVE each one wink

I ADORE "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai. Is the rest of the album of similar ilk? What do you think of Chic and Cameo? I'm thinking of getting into them as well.

Cameo sucks ass! A total novelty act.

It's a matter of preference. Had I extended it to 20 or 30 albums per decade, there would be more artists represented.

I never thought I'd say this but "Purple Rain" seems to be the most underrated album of the 80s. I think it was so popular that many Prince fans dismiss it. But it was one of his best 80s albums without a doubt, if not the best. It was sure better than Madonna's albums, that's for sure. It is of course all 100% subjective, but Purple Rain should get more votes than it does.

talk to the hand . . . Now wait a minute.

Who made you guys the Music Police? Because I want to file a report.

You've each got great taste in music, but that doesn't give you license to act like snobs.

Diversity is all well and good, but why should someone have a diverse list for the sole purpose of proving their hipness or music knowledge? No one has anything to prove to anyone on this site.

'beam, keep on doin' what you do.
