I love eighties music! I also like being on a PC where I can download this stuff and hear it.

Certaintly better than the things she tried in "Glitter" (the movie, I never heard nor have the desire to hear the soundtrack). Pretty much sounds like everything else from the eighties. Good voice but only a few times does it really sound like her.

I think this is the best thing she's done but I'm not a fan. Release it as a single and I'll buy! Too bad she never embraced dance music like this.

I think I'll listen to it again. Thanks Twink69!

She also sounds like she has a cold or something...I don't remember her (singing) sounding that way back then hmm

are you sure THIS is the demo she gave mottola? lol

Actualy its from 1989!

And Brenda K. Star is singing along with her(the chic with the squicky voice). Which explains the Maddy/Janet connection lol!

I love this song.

This is very late-80's...

First thing I thought of was EXPOSE' and the 'freestyle' divas of that time...

Ahhh...miss those days!

Is that really Mariah? The spoken part sounds like her but the singing is kinda different. Oh well, she must have been about 15 or 16 in 1986, right?

I like it biggrin

I downloaded it yesterday and told my friend it was like Expose.

I kinda thought, at once it shows how much Mariah has grown, but in some aspects of her radio songs, hasn't grown at all.. yknow?

Hmm, I was brushing my teeth listening to Glitter, and I must say, there is no need for me to post things like "Mariah hasn't grown at all" because she is a pop artist, and the genre of pop itself and the radio formats is something that doesn't change alot over time.

Just thinking of comparing "Candy" (Cameo 1986) to "Loverboy" (Mariah 2001) and how they are both from different eras and still function to represent those times, but how they are clearly formatted as pop singles.

What the frog am I going on about - I just don't want to slag Mariah.

Speaking of Glitter, how I wish she would release the rest of of the glitter session. It was originaly a 2 CD set, u know that? A few of 80's producers contributed in Glitter and they're:

James Mtume
Hawk(of Rufus)
Kashif
Angela Winbush
Rick James(another track too)
Prince
Rod Temperton

It woulda been the bomb-diggity if they didn't rush this mofo but then again I'm glad these sessions weren't released in a flopped album becoz it would be unfair 4 all that hard work.

Well, "glitter" is a soundtrack to a movie set in the 80s...of course it's gonna sound like that.
Pop music changes all the time, the quality of it may not change, but the sound does.

The thing I find funny is that her earlier albums are more mature sounding than the ones she's making now, lol

Glitter was her best album (Butterfly is also equal 1st)
I just loved the song Rick James wrote for her on the album "All My Life" this song should have been a single, it's just way too funky and sexy 4 words, YOU NEED TO GET THIS SONG
I loved her take on the 80's she could have gone down a different road with an 80's inspired album
She could have recorded a Whitney or Patti labelle style 80's album
but she went for sos' band, Cameo, Rick James and Cherylenne style songs
