2 nights with Bowie in Paris - what a blast!

I popped over the channel from London to Paris on the Eurostar on Monday morning and caught 2 totally incredible Bowie gigs!

Bowie on Mon and Tue night at the Bercy Palais Omnisports - Paris, a beautiful 18,000 capacity arena with acoustics to match any 3,000 cpacity club venue I've been too!

Here are the selists for both nights:
p.s I relayed the setlist live to a mate via text to London who then posted the setlist as it evolved onto the bowie fansites... I did this for the very 1st date in Copenhagen on 7th Oct and got over 200,000 hits in 2.5 hours when he relayed the setlist back to me... it costs qite a bit per text so we do it every 4 songs or so... but it means every1 else online feels part of the thrill, esp as some songs make their 1st ever appearance on the tour... in fact during the 2nd night in Paris no less than 5 or 6 new ones were played, not least 4 traks from LOW!!! wink

Paris: Mon 20th Oct

1. The Jean Genie
2. New Killer Star
3. Fame

25. Ziggy Stardust

Paris: Tue 21st Oct

01. New Killer Star
02. Pablo Picasso

He IS on indeed nowadays! Saw him in Hamburg and luckily made the last minute decision to see him in Hannover on Nov 1st again.
BTW, have you heard, in whatever form, the Frankfurt concert?
Man, he was ON FIRE! He really goes a little beyond the usual on some songs. "Heroes" is beyond incredible, as are many other songs.

Awesome. The 2nd night's setlist looks really tight. I like the LOW songs all lined up like that.

probably not. but hey, it wasnt so bad. gnomes are underrecognised as songwriting muses, much less laughing ones.

seriously though, modern love is one excellent song. i mean, its cynical yet upbeat, and as far as bittersweet songs go, its right up there. shame its got that slightly 'boxy' 80s production but who cares.

I agree, Heroes is performed with such intensity on this tour! I haven't got the frankfurt recording but will have Paris 1st night sometime next week - I'm told the quality is amazing man...

p.s. have a damn good time in Hannover!
I've got 2 more shows to look 4ward to, at Wembley

So far out of 10 shows on the tour, Modern Love has been played twice, but it'll no doubt be played at the Wembley dates... (hint hint)

Im probably gonna get slated 4 this, but even though 'Let's Dance' is poo-pooed, I still say that the title track is quite possibly one of the best (if not the best songs EVER produced. It's dynamic as hell.

Everything about it just sparkles and shines. The song itself may not be much cop, but the production of it is just absolutely fautless.

Listen up next time u hear it, and u will (hopefully!) see (or rather: HEAR) what I mean...

I won't slate ya, though I do disagree! wink
I think it's the weakest track on the cd, if not it's pretty close... It doesn't sit well between 'Try Some' and 'Disco King'... it's too loud in the mix and would have been better placed on Earthling

I think Disco King is right up there with the very best of his 70s work... and the remix on the Underworld cd is HAND DOWN superior in every way to the lp version... go check it out if u haven't man, it's called the 'Loner Mix' and is easily downloaded

I also adore 'She'll Drive The Big Car' and 'Days'

BTW, what did Bowie had to do with the remix of "Disco King"?
I'm kind of missing the dynamic piano by Mike Garson in the remix... and I don't like those "underwater" drums. The heavier drums and the added guitars are very nice, though.

I guess I like both versions equally. But for a live performance, the album version definitely suits better.

Have you seen the Munich set list? Seems like a good show, with some variations to previous shows.

Ahh, nevermind
The new re-release is ot Nov 17th with an added track, Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks
It's an SACD hybrid cd tha u can play on normal cd players, and has been remixed in 5.1 sound by Tony Visconti

The bonus dvd is the performace from the London Riverside premiere gig of the entire Reality lp, track by track... n effect we'll have 2 versons of Reality.. one studio, and one live!

p.s. The Riverside gig was absolutely incredible! Can't wait to re-live it, in 5.1!
