They're one of my favorite bands.Tomorrow (October 21),they're releasing a 2-CD career retrospective.Usually,I don't get excited about greatest hits sets when the artist already has several compilations on the market,including a multi-disc box set.But this new compilation includes a special limited edition bonus DVD,the new song "Hole In The World",and a 48-page book featuring a track-by-track Eagles interview by freelance rock journalist Cameron Crowe.Plus,this set includes their 1978 holiday classic "Please Come Home For Christmas" (which makes it's debut on an Eagles CD,having only been available as a single previously).Tracklist...

Very impressive tracklist,although I would have loved if they had added a live version of "Hotel California".On recent tours,they have transformed that song into a cool Latin and reggae-sounding track,and it sounds amazing.The bonus DVD includes the new "Hole In The World" video,rare "making of" footage,and a behind-the-scenes look at the band's current 'Farewell 1' tour.Can't wait to pick this up!

The Eagles are currently on tour in the Mid West. The band is using Chicago as a hub for the tour. I have seen them at a Chicago airport for the past week or more. They fly out to the gig and back each day. Glenn Frey has his own jet and flies separately from the band. The Eagles gave us tickets to the Tuesday Chicago show and t shirts to wear to it.

I don't know if I will go.

It's a fantastic compilation. I don't know if I'll be getting it though, I already have the Hotel California and Long Run albums. Everything on those two albums are essential to me. It's their albums before that which I don't find that appealing aside from the singles, and I've got their first hits album to cover that stuff.

I'll be getting it.

the eagles put me to sleep... they have a handful of songs that i like ("peaceful easy feeling," "already gone," and "one of these nights") - ok, so maybe they don't even have a handful of songs that i like... ... anyhow, the rest of their music just bores me to death...

When Frey and/or Henley kick off, I bet The Eagles will be elevated to the status of a Beach Boys or Beatles kind of legacy. The original configuration of their "Best of" has sold an unreal amount of copies, and let's not even discuss licensing...those old geezers are some kinda crazy bitchin' RICH.

I'm not particularly a fan of theirs, but my mom useta play their Best Of alll the time when I was a kid. In the car. On 8-track. Oh yeah.

I disliked the Eagles very much, but it was clinched for me in 1994, when I was suffering from a serious blood disorder, and had a catheter in my chest for pheresis treatments. This made taking a shower extremely difficult. That, plus having to be up at 5 in the morning, shower, and go to go for the treatments with the Eagles on the bathroom radio EVERY SINGLE MORNING while that "Hell Freezes Over" thing was out, just nauseates me whenever I hear them or of them.

I like The Eagles.

I have the greatest hits vol 1 & 2. Love 'em to death, but what's the point in buying this? A few extra songs? Not worth the extra $$ imo.
