Alanis Morissette
Madonna
Bjork
Janet Jackson

Instead of labelling this stuff as garbage, wouldn't it just be more fair to say that you don't care for a lot R&B? I mean, judging from your list, I sense you're all about indie alt-rock stuff that I could care less about.

I don't mean to argue with you, that's just how I see it.

I love R&B, if its quality. Also, for the record, I only have one record on my top 10 that fits the indie alt-rock category. Tortoise. I wouldn't say Bowie,Nick Drake, or John Cale are indie alt-rock by any means

You may be right, but I guess your top ten albums aren't exactly winning popularity contests or making a lot of money. Not that that's a good or bad thing, I've just seen this mentality with some folks that everything that gets airplay or makes money is complete garbage, whereas underappreciated stuff like Nick Drake (which is a very good choice, btw) is all that matters.

But wait, he did mention Disintergration by The Cure. I guess he gets cool points for that. I mean, that's one of the greatest records ever made. In fact he's not the only one here with that album on the list.

I was very torn about what I could replace on my list to fit that in there. IN the end-all, I couldn't though...it probly would fall about 12th-14th on my list.

Now, now, garnis, as pleased as I am that you know where it's at with "Blowout Comb," no one likes a music snob.

In any event, you asked for "favourites," not "bests." Or did you start this thread just to get a lot of responses and put people on blast because their tastes were somehow "inferior" to yours?

Well, Garnis didn't start this thread...but I agree with your thoughts, 'specially cos this is a 'favorites' list. My list would've been quite different had it been a "best" list

(in random order)

Sign O' The Times - Prince
Mama's Gun - Erykah Badu
Hunky Dory - David Bowie
What's Goin On - Marvin Gaye
Off the Wall - Michael Jackson
Innervisions - Stevie Wonder

...only 6, but those will remain, I guess. The rest would change all the time. Some more Prince, Bowie, Stevie Wonder.
