Police responding to a burglary call arrested Courtney Love in Los Angeles early Thursday morning for allegedly being under the influence of narcotics, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The 39-year-old singer was found outside a friend's home, where she admitted to breaking several windows while trying to enter. She was booked for investigation of illegal-drug possession and was released after posting $2,500 bail.

The Times also reported that Beverly Hills police and paramedics rushed Love to a hospital for treatment of a drug overdose less than an hour later. She had reportedly checked out of the hospital by midday. A spokesperson for Love could not be reached for comment by press time.

Love's long-in-the-works debut solo album, America's Sweetheart, was originally due at the end of this month, but was recently postponed until February 10.

She and Whitney are doing a new duet album together.It's called 'My Drugs Are Your Drugs'

My biggest problem with Courtney is that she has a kid who has to deal with all this shit. It's enough that C.Lo has her own demons to battle, there's really no excuse to drag her daughter into her nightmares. Beyond that, addiction's an ugly and powerful thing, and I hope she gets the help she needs to get back to being a vulgar, catty, hilarious hellraiser. I think rock'n'roll needs people like her.

I think C.Lo is a deeply, DEEPLY flawed human being, full of contradictions and hypocrisy and arrogance and ignorance. At the same time, she can be amazingly eloquent, hysterically funny, and dammitall, the girl can RAWK. I checked out her day-long hijacking of MTV2 last fall, and it was the most fun I'd had watching TV in years. She programmed the station to play stuff she thought was cool, and I'll be damned if the woman doesn't have some great tastes in music, and her non-stop ranting had me rolling on the floor. Good music and lotsa laffs. Sorry, I can't wish ill on someone who can give me those things. I'll grant you one thing, however - it's frustrating that she's as stupid as she is smart.
