Q-Tip, Kamaal the Abstract I have a question. Why the hell can't i buy this great album? I donwloaded it quite a while ago, because i had no other options.
What's the problem with Arista? Kamaal the abstract is a great album, why doesn't it appear on the shelves? Q-Tip crafted a record that pays homage to the last gasp of organically produced mainstream pop in the '70s and '80s, paying a large compliment to Prince and Stevie Wonder, even as he proves himself far more talented than D'Angelo (if not quite as soulful). from: www.allmusic.com or http://www.allmusic.com/c...08b594psqe

It was an excellent album, but you can't really compare him to D'Angelo.

Some artists get away with evolving or changing..like Andre 3000, and some don't...like Q Tip.
And, they're on the same label. Sometimes the timing isn't good. The industry is tricky. Maybe they shelved it cause Arista was scared, or it just wasn't a good time...Stankonia blew up around the same time Q Tip became Kamaal.

It definitely should've been released. 'Barely in Love' is a fucking awesome tune...(and surprisingly Lennon-esque)

Barely IN Love is my fav from that one. Folks weren't ready for that stuff. But they are with Andre.

Tip was more on a Beatles-vibe with that album. L.A. must've been smoking crack to not release this.
