Blur Banned borrowed with love from:
Blur Banned by (NFA/WNSOB/CPT) British rockers BLUR encountered the "worst side" of America when they backed out of a radio commitment - only to see their album blacklisted. Singer DAMON ALBARN suffered a physical breakdown brought on by dehydration after the band's triumphant shows at London's ASTORIA venue in May (03), when they debuted their new album THINK TANK. That, coupled with some "pressure at home", led Albarn to request a week off from record bosses so he could recuperate - but he also ended up missing out on some radio-broadcast American festivals, which infuriated media honchos. He explains, "All hell broke loose. There are two conglomerates who basically own all the radio stations in America. The attitude - which is the worst side of America - was, right, you don't play our game, we're cutting you out entirely. "So as it stands we've been taken off the airwaves in America. "I don't know if my anti-war stance had any bearing on it. But I suspect that didn't help in their decision to be so aggressive." http://www.musiclub.sonys...emId=29924

MTV, TV commercials, radio commercials... but never on a station playlist

crazy beat was played out on the radio so maybe they will finally stop playing it. although, honestly, i'd rather hear ANY blur song 5 times an hour over justin timberlake or beyonce knowles.

"Song 2", "Crazy Beat", "Coffee and TV", and "Girls and Boys" come to mind. Not what they deserve here in US but still are kinda like legendary here, seeing them live tells it all, they have been around sometime and survived. don't forget GORILLAZ!!! More than anything these Brits and dudes like Moby use adds to get the music on telly. Elastica used connection. Moby used countless somgs in commercial. Blur just used "Crazy Beat" and I doubt "Song 2" will ever go away! Gorillaz used "Clint Eastwood" in a commercial. They get the music out there that way, and its not no 1969 anymore so why not cash in???

Also, back in the day, all the singles from 'Leisure' were played out on our then kick-ass-alterna-station, come to think of it, so were the "Modern Life..." singles... but that was a looong time ago

Yeah, it isn't like they are targeting Blur, as the title suggests!
