Sinead O'Conner last release is just downright beautiful...After listening to the unreleased tracks like "Do Right Woman" and "A Hundred Thousand Angels" I was mildly satisfied with buying the disc..

I picked it up this weekend but haven't listened yet. Guess I know what I'm doing tonight!!!

I've been hesitant about getting this, because I haven't been much for her music since "Gospel Oak". I have no guilt in saying that my love for Sinead is very pedestrian and anything but die-hard...gimme her first two albums and I'm happy, anything beyond that and she's lost me.

im a fan, but not a huge one...its got all of her best songs performed lived on disc two...even, "gasp" nothing compares 2 u.


disc one has rarities and unreleased stuff..its awesome too!!!

Anx, there are some great rarities on the first disc...in fact, it's on right now. There are a couple demos that seem like they're probably recent (?) but they're GOOD, whatever they are. "No Matter How Hard I Try" is tearing up my speakers right now with its bootleggy tinny sound and gorgeous melody and vocals.

The live disc is disappointing, in my opinion. In a similar career move to our squiggly thing, her first official live disc is from a recent show, which is a great show...but it's not a classic SINEAD show. There was no rage - which makes me happy for her personally, although it doesn't do much for the emotional response to the music. 6 out of the 13 tracks on the live disc are traditional irish songs from whatever that last album was called.

I think you'll dig a lot on the first disc, once you get past the Traditional Trio that kick it off. And even they're tolerable and even quite pleasantly haunting I suppose...but when you hear shit like "Big Bunch of Junkie Lies" you remember what the truth sounds like. I love saying ridiculous shit like that. The best line in that song is "She can't tell who is a good or bad man...because her daddy was a fucked up one."

"It's All Good" is the culmination of her flirt with reggae, and it's happy happy joy joy."1000 Mirrors" with the Asian Dub Foundation is exactly what you think it would sound like from the name of the collaborator and the track...think James Bond theme crossed with Asian Irish reggae dub. Yes, it's just that good.

But that second disc, man. Of course, I'm still gonna buy the DVD of that same concert after payday. And I'm looking forward to it, though I'd rather have something from '94 or earlier. Kinda like squigs, though I still haven't bought Aladdin.

While she doesnt scream and wail there is still rage and pain...its just subtle (and imho more effective)..if you read the linear notes to her last album you get the backbone of the classic stories told within these traditional songs...they are all about pain...and within these songs she has found a beautiful and angelic voice to deliver them..im of the mind that her last album is one of her best...im not a big fan of that style of music but..its all about that voice..

and she does "Fire on Babylon" and ends with "The Last Day of Our..." and boy does she deliver...

and if you want "extreme passion"...HOT DAMN listen to My Lagan Love (from the concert)...This may well be my favorite Sinead song of all time...beautiful.

Awright, okay...y'all are making me kinda almost wanna get the thing...I'm gonna pass on the DVD, though...I remember the last live video she did, it was about as interesting as watching my dripping faucet (which actually DOES kind of have a hypnotic quality to it, in a zen kinda way...my faucet, that is...), but if yer a fan, I can imagine that would be binge-worthy.
